Advanced Auto let me use a spring compressor. You will need one. Google how to, or get Chiltons manual. Save yourself money and do it.

      Comments about Monroe Gas-Matic Strut:

Restored the ride on my 2008 Tacoma 4x4. Major improvement over the original struts. I had no idea how bad they were worn until I replaced them. Great deal with a discount code, shipping was quick, and items were packed well.

Seeking to purchase gas front struts for my 2001 toy tacoma trd 4/4.
Will struts be worth purchase if they are not sensa trac? And what is the difference between sensa-trac and regular gas struts for quality purposes? My mechanic believes sensa trac only worth purchase for performance.

            A:

I'm glad to assist, Diane Do It Right! These Monroe Gas-Matic Struts (Part No. 81352) are no longer the proper part number. The correct part information is for a Monro-Matic Plus (Part No. 801352). These feature Velocity Proportional Valving (VPV) technology that provides proportional damping based on the speed of vehicle-to-road impact. They will provide improved comfort at an economical price.

For the 2001 Toyota Tacoma TRD 4x4, the Sensa-Trac is now OESpectrum (Part No. 71352) which are engineered specifically for foreign nameplate vehicles and features the latest original equipment valving technologies. These struts utilize "Twin Technology Active Control System". Twin Technology consists of its latest Impact Control Valve (ICV), which delivers exceptional control under virtually all driving conditions, and a patented Low Speed Tunability (LST) piston design that isolates impact-related noise, vibration and harshness.

For an even more convenient solution that includes all necessary parts required for strut replacement, check out the Monroe Quick-Strut (Part No. 171352L for the left front and Part No. 171352R for the right front). These feature pre-assembled replacement bearing plate, upper and lower spring isolators, upper spring seat, coil spring, boot kit, and an OESpectrum strut.

When it comes to shocks and struts, it is very much a personal preference and how you use your vehicle that will determine which is best for you. Advance Auto Parts also carries KYB and Rancho (made by Monroe) shocks and struts for your vehicle and each will have features and benefits that make them ideal for different applications.
