I have over 248,000 miles on my 2000 Silverado with original shocks. Needless to say, the truck rides like new now. Installation is pretty easy as long as you have an impact wrench. Also I suggest not cutting the plastic retainers on the shock until you have one end bolted up. This will keep the shock partially compressed making it easier to align the bolt holes. While securing the loose end, cut the retainer and guide the shock as it extends while inserting the remaining mounting bolt.

After riding on these shocks for a couple hundred miles I noticed that they were harsh on any dips or bumps in the road. Called Tenneco(makers of monroe and rancho) and they said they only made one shock for the Z71 pkg. So I had to return and order the reflex 911501s and 911502s they suggested. Truck rides much better now.

Comments about Monroe Gas-Matic LT Shock Absorber:

I have a '99 Silverado, with dual exhaust so not sure if this is a factor with stock exhaust. Lifted the rear end of my truck up set it on blocks. Ended up taking the spare out from under the bed, because between that an my exhaust I couldn't get to the top bolts. Taking it out gave me enough room with the truck in the air to sit on the ground, use an impact wrench and ratchet to swap out the shocks.

Comments about Monroe Gas-Matic LT Shock Absorber:

I believe that these are one of the best shocks on the market.Monroe shocks are the only ones that I use.The Fathers Day discount along with my speed perks reward made this s great deal.I purchased them online, which was easy, and picked up in the store about a half an hour later.I did not realize that I purchased the rear shocks instead of my intended front shocks.(my mistake).i went back and explained my problem and the sales associate told me that he would refund them but because of how soon I purchased them that it was not in the system yet and I would need to come back for the refund.I told him that I would just keep them because really all the shocks in my truck needed to get replaced. He then gave me a code to use online for another 30% discount off for the front shocks.Amazeing! This is ,in my opinion the best auto parts store out there and I will be back soon for more purchases. You guys are the best. Thanks!

Like previous review stated wait till you have the top bolt in before removing the plastic strap. Once I removed the old ones they went in quite easy and waiting to cut the strap saved in not having to compress the shock.
