Comments about Monroe Gas-Matic LT Shock Absorber:

Nice set of shocks. I would have given them 5 stars but they did not come with the bottom fastners that attach to the control arm. I broke two bolts due to them being rusted. I had to go back to Advance and get replacements. Unfortunately they were out of the metric bolts so I had to use the inch size equivilent. Truck rides nice and stiff now, the old shocks had 356,000 miles on them, yep! 2000 Ford Ranger, I just bought it off a buddy that use to do the quick rush delivery service, and he bought used too.

Bolt right in to replace OEM shocks. Greatly improved handling and ride. Have not had very long but previous Monroes lasted the life of the vehicle and these have the lifetime warranty.

                          A:

Heat the area around the bolt head with a propane torch. Do not let the head of the bolt glow red, but if it starts to turn slightly red, this is OK. Expand the area around the bolt to make it easier to remove it. Shut off the torch and immediately spray the area around the bolt head, along with the head itself, with lubricating oil. This will cause the oil to immediately smoke, so do not inhale the fumes. The oil will seep down behind the bolt head and work to loosen the rust on the threads of the bolt. Wait 15 to 20 minutes for the penetrating oil to finish working on the rust.Remove the bolt with a socket wrench and the appropriate-sized socket. Turn the bolt counterclockwise to remove.
