The Monroe® Gas-Magnum® truck shock absorber is designed for mid to full size, hard working pick-up trucks and vans. These units provide firm control without a harsh ride. With up to twice the fluid capacity of standard 1 inch bore shocks, Monroe® Gas-Magnum® truck shocks work more efficiently with less effort.

Product Features:
  • 1-3/8 inch Bore: Lower operating pressure than standard 1 inch bore units
  • 2 inch Reserve Tube: More fluid for more consistent performance.
  • 5/8 inch Piston Rod: Heavy-duty nitrocarburized rod for long service life. On non-dust shield units only
  • All Weather Fluid: Contains special modifiers to reduce friction and ensure smooth rod reaction.
  • Full Displaced Valving: Better valving range on both the compression and extension cycles of the unit for a smooth comfortable ride.
  • Nitrogen Gas Charged: For improved ride and handling, helps maintain tire to road contact by reducing aeration - on most applications
  • Sintered Iron Piston: Stronger than traditional metals, enhances durability for longer service life.
  • Special Seal: 'Self-lubricating' fluid seal designed to retain gas without excessive wear or friction.

I loved the way I was able to order online and pick it up locally at an Advance Auto Parts of my choice. I walked in, gave my name, and they had the parts on the counter within a minute. The Monroe Gas Magnums (front) were so easy to install, it took me longer to get all my tools set up, than it did to remove the old shocks and set the new ones in place. Having an '02 Chevy Silverado K2500HD, I didn't really notice that the old shocks were worn, until noticing that my front tires were feathering. After installing the new shocks, however, I notice that I have much more control after hitting bumps in the road. I'll definitely shop at Advance Auto online again!

Comments about Monroe Gas-Magnum Shock Absorber:

My truck needed a new set of tires and I thought it was appropriate to put new shocks on it too. I have always had confidence in Monroe and they didn't let me down. The old ones were worn out and hard to get off but these went on in about 10 minutes each. My old Chevy rides like a new truck now. Shocktober was a great deal.

Comments about Monroe Gas-Magnum Shock Absorber:

I have always been a high mileage driver on pickups and Tahoe type vehicles, I don't always have to replace shocks, but at times I have a weak one or a leak from factory stock shocks, when I replaced them I always used Monroe, due to my past experiences. I'm not wanting an off road heavy duty shock just one that works properly and lasts. There is a direct relation to good shocks and tire wear, I like getting 70,000 miles on a good set of tires, which costs me more than shocks. A good set of shocks and alignment saves me a lot of money on tire purchases.

Just turned 90,000 miles and put new tires on. At the time original shocks were not leaking but seemed alittle bouncy. Bought four new monroes and it was night and day difference. Best update for better handling and ride.
