This is the first time I paid a little extra and got the complete assembly. I don't think I will go back to buying just the strut again if I don't have to. I completed installation on both sides in 30 minutes or less. If you do the math, the extra cost isn't as much as you would think (if any). For ones who have done this job by replacing just the strut, you find that you need to replace the boot, the spring rubbers, and sometimes the bearing that is at the top of the assembly, etc. By the time you add cost of each of those separately (which no one stocks), you will find that you pay little or no more than getting the complete assembly. Since the assembly is complete, you have all news parts as well as a new spring. You get a great, quiet ride with none of the little noises you get when turning because you tried to use the old, worn-out parts that may have "looked" ok to re-use. Or you have to re-use the parts because you need your car back on the road and don't have the time to wait for the "ordered" parts to come in. Again....not normally stocked items. For me, these had to be ordered but thanks to Advance's free shipping on orders of $75 or more, these qualify. You can be confident that when they arrive, you can plan to start and finish the job in very little time with no need to run back to the parts store.

I bought both the right and left front, the description had both parts as "exact fit". Unfortunately that is not accurate. Overall they did fit, but the paint finish on them was different, one was gloss blue and one was kind of a dull metallic blue. Also, the brake like supports were in different locations and had to be bent out of the way of the pinch bolt to get it back in on the left side. Still, for the price they still fit OK on my 2005 Ford Focus ZX4 SES.

This part was a perfect fit and easy to install. My vehicle now has that new car ride. I would also recommend replacing the Sway Bar links along with the struts. They are relatively inexpensive and are easy to change.

Comments about Monroe Econo-Matic Complete Strut Assembly:

I also replaced the sway-bar links on my daughter's car at the same time as they were very worn. Don't miss that, as they are often a source of front noise. While you are there, check for any grease zerks and service appropiately while they are accessible. I employed a univeral joint on my ratchet to ease access to one of the bolts. Double-check all bolts, as your life depends on a good job! Now is a good time to inspect your front rotors and pads. I found this to to seem to be an excellent product, I have no idea what the difference is between it and the more expensive Monroe model would be. This was a super deal with 15% off and a $50 gift card. Remember that the new struts will likely ride an inch or more higher. After you wipe the last bit of grease from your hands and step back to admire your craftyness and the fact that you've just saved yourself hundreds of dollars, get on the phone and make an appointment for an alignment at your earliest conveinence. We don't want you to prematurely wear your tires at some odd angle now do we? Enjoy your new ride!
