This kit is a great vaule. I installed it on my 17 year old son's Lincoln Towncar. Its his first car so he is not made of money. The air Suspension did not work. The clearence between the rear tire and the wheelwell was less than an inch. The car bottomed out on the smallest of bumps. After we installed the kit the rear ride hieght is where it sould be now. I did not need a spring compressor tool. Once we removed the old shocks the kit was snap it install. We did watch a online video before starting the job. I think just about anybody with a floorjack and a basic tool kit could do this job in a day.

cheap way out, but I definitely can tell the difference in the smoothness of ride - you will give up a little comfort but it's gets you back up and running for less then half the money if you needed the a complete system - I am not a mechanic but was able to install them in a couple of hours, getting the old shocks off are the time consumer. If money is tight it is a way to go but if not don't give up the ride!!!

Comments about Monroe Air Spring to Coil Spring Conversion Kit:

Fooled around with air ride on my 1999 town car for over a year. This conversion fixed my problem once and for all. Did the conversion about 8 months ago and have had no problems. If the original ride was a 10, I would give the new ride about a 9 - 9 1/2. I'll give up that much comfort for the peace of mind the conversion gave me.

Comments about Monroe Air Spring to Coil Spring Conversion Kit:

The components were of high quality and the instructions were simple to follow. The process to replace the air springs is relatively simple. As these cars get older the air spring and component become a nuisance to maintain. This kit eliminates these issues and provides a very cost effective solution. I have had other Lincolns with air suspension in the past and I should chose this solution first.

Comments about Monroe Air Spring to Coil Spring Conversion Kit:

Kit is easy to install. You can find lots of videos on Youtube. The hardest part was removing the top bolts on shocks..thats what took the most time.
The ride is "different" hard to describe..maybe not as smooth and handles different..but not bad.
the only thing I dont like is the car sits much higher in the back. The directions say it will settle down but its too early to tell.
I would still recommend this kit as it is much cheaper than replacing the air system in whole or pieces.

Comments about Monroe Air Spring to Coil Spring Conversion Kit:

The monroe equipment is good. The issue was the completely misleading instructions for cancelling the 'Air Suspension' light on the dash. Three groups were layed out // my 1999 year did not match at all my actual wiring harness and connections. This pretense of instructions cost many people alot of time. It would have been better to say 'we don't know' or 'too many alternatives exist for us to cover'.

No, Michael, this Monroe Conversion Kit (Part No. 90003) is not an exact fit for your 1999 Lincoln Continental. The exact conversion kit for your vehicle is currently unavailable online. I would suggest that you visit the nearest Advance Auto Parts store to check the availability of this part.

                • Q:

I have 1 2002 Lincoln Continental CE and I'm thinking of converting it to coil springs. My question is how does one handle the Check Engine Issue? My thoughts are that because the Air Suspension will no longer be in service the light will come on and I know how to clear it but when one gets a car inspected in Texas. The codes have to reset and i'm sure you know that some cars have to be driven 150 miles or so for all the codes to reset. If the check engine light is on for any reason and the codes haven't reset your're not passing inspection. I live in the Dallas Texas area and the EPA is really tough in this metropolitan area.

                    A:

Hi Carlos, good question! I understand how tough it's to drive in Dallas, TX! The electrical power to the air suspension system must be shut off before hoisting, jacking or towing an air suspension vehicle. All you have to do is 'turn off' the air suspension switch located in the right side of the passenger compartment. Failing to do this may result in accidental inflation or deflation of the air springs. You can just leave the solenoid connected or cut the wire (black or white color) to disarm the warning light. You can also check this link for proper installation process. Though the vehicle is different the process is the still the same:

Hi Lu! Currently, we do not provide installation service for items other than battery/oil. So, we are unable to help you with an approximate cost for installing this Monroe Air Spring to Coil Spring Conversion Kit.
