Product Features:
  • Meets the API Service GL-5 EP gear oil service classification
  • Performs over a wide range of temperatures
  • Reduced fluid friction
  • Reduces wear and spalling under the high-speed, high-torque and high-horsepower conditions in many sport utility vehicles, vans, light trucks, and cars
  • Not recommended for automatic, manual or semiautomatic transmissions for which engine oil or automatic transmission fluids are recommended
  • Mobil 1 Synthetic Gear Lubricant LS 75W-140 is recommended for use in modern high-performance vehicles like sport utility vehicles, vans and light-duty trucks requiring API GL-5 performance

Use this for all my ford vehicles that have limited slip rears. You DO NOT need to purchase friction modifier, it's included in the formula and states that as well. People still feel compelled to buy modifier for no reason.

I use Mobil1 75-140 in my Jeep Wrangler with the Dana 44 and air lockers. I 4wheel hard 2x a month, going through mud and water.

Have had ZERO issues with this fluid, but I do keep up on my fluids maintenance.

You get what you pay for, IMO.

Hi noob! Good question! The 75W-140 is required for heavy duty or towing applications only. If you are not towing then you can go for the Mobil1 Synthetic Gear Lubricant LS 75W-90 (1 qt.) - Part No. 104361/98W573 which would be the the right weight for your Sequoia. Front differential requires 2.2 qts and rear requires 2.6 qts approximately.

Does this gear lubricant absorb water? I was told the original Ford synthetic does not, we launch a boat and were told to use gear lubricant which absorbs water to avoid any possible corrosion.
