Comments about Mobil1 High Mileage 5W-30 Fully Synthetic Motor Oil (1 Quart):

Use this stuff in all my vehicles, and have nothing but good things to say. Every time I change the oil in any of my cars (Mazdaspeed6 66000 miles, Maxima 107000 and a Silverado w/ 208000 miles) the Mobil 1 oil still looks great. I used to change every 5000 miles, and based on my experience and confidence in this oil, I've moved the intervals to every 7500 miles, the vehicles are still running great!! Better than when the Nissan dealership changed the oil. Yes, it cost more but if you aren't having to change your oil as often it will likely save some money in the long run. Little story, I had to replace the valves in the truck after getting some bad gas, and the Mechanic that did the work praised how clean and 'healthy' the engine appeared despite the damaged valves. My truck has run nothing but Mobil 1 since 50K miles, two weeks later drove by and the mechanic had a sign advertising Mobil 1.

Comments about Mobil1 High Mileage 5W-30 Fully Synthetic Motor Oil (1 Quart):

I have over 140,000 miles on my car and the engine still runs great due to using Mobil One oil products since the very first oil change. There isn't any other oil I would use in any of my vehicles including my motorcycle. If you are like me and take pride in your ride, Mobil One oil is the one to use.

Comments about Mobil1 High Mileage 5W-30 Fully Synthetic Motor Oil (1 Quart):

I've used Mobil 1 High Mileage in other weights and it definitely reduces consumption, minimizes leaks, and does some cleaning IHMO. I do wish it had a lower pour point more consistent with a Group IV, PAO based oil. But certainly has an excellent additive package regardless of formulation.

            A:

Hi Glen, happy to help you! Although there is no official definition for high mileage, a vehicle with more than 100,000 miles would be considered a high-mileage vehicle. Some cars may be capable of reaching 200,000 miles or more.

          • CUSTOMER CARE

            A:

Hi Yannie, good question! For severe cases of sludge, short oil change intervals (3000 - 5000 miles) are recommended for the first 2-3 oil changes as reduction of the sludge takes place.

I have a '94 Honda Civic with 187,000 miles on it, runs great, no leaks and doesnt burn oil... i would like to keep it this way... i normally get high mileage oil but should i be using high mileage synthetic oil? what is the difference between synthetic motor oil and conventional oil? Does mobil make a high mileage conventional oil?

            A:

Conventional motor oils are derived from petroleum, whereas synthetic oils are replicas manufactured from chemicals.

Answered on 8/23/2011 by Aaron from AAP
          • A:

Conventional oil is directly produced from petroleum distillates. Every molecule of conventional oil is different, it is heterogeneous (on a molecular level) Synthetic oil is is conventional oil that has been rerefined and chemically altered so that every molecule is the same. As a result, it lubricates better, has better film strength and lasts longer. Thus synthetic oil is better than conventional, no ifs ands or buts.
