Comments about Mobil1 High Mileage 10W-30 Fully Synthetic Motor Oil (1 Quart):

I have been a Valvoline guy for 16 plus years. I've been using Valvoline Synpower Max Life. I have tried Amsoil Royal Purple Castrol and some others. Always loved my Valvoline. Decided to finally try Mobil 1 High Mileage. Wow. Wow. Wow. Noticed a difference from the first start up. Engine runs smoother. Quieter. Able to rev higher without breaking down. Amazing oil. Will use Mobil 1 for life now.

Is it a myth or fact that High mileage vehicles should NOT be changed/converted from regular oil to synthetic oil as it causes oil leakage in seals etc..?

As I have always understood it, you should not change from synthetic to conventional because it could cause leaks.

                A:

From my personal experience working in the lube shop business for 3+ years, I have seen vehicles that used synthetic oil switch to conventional oil and they started leaking rather quickly. The synthetic oils have additives in them that condition and swell the seals to protect from leaking. When you switch to conventional oil after using synthetic oil, the seals shrink and that is where the leaking comes from.
