Q:I AM ITERESTED IN INSTALLING THIS ON MY ARGO 6 WHEEL AMPHIBIOUS VEHICLE,IT HAS A STEEL ROLLBAR WITH AN ALUMINUM ROOF AND OVERHEAD DASH PANEL,IS THIS A PROBLEM FOR RECEPTION IF I MOUNT IT JUST OUTSIDE THE ROOF UNIT ON THE ROLLBAR UP HIGH.ALSO IS THIS A RELIABLE UNIT FOR RURAL AREA RECEPTION of FM.
A:Hi Steve, great question, sounds like a great project. I have found that this part works best when mounted to the front or rear glass of most vehicles. The antenna can struggle for signal if under a metal roof. On top of the roof should not cause any major interference. Rural area reception could vary based on quite a few factors. Large buildings and hills can block signal reception while very flat areas can receive stations much further away. Night and day could even change the stations that you receive.
