No wonder the call it Ultimate.

I used this to try and save a badly oxidized trunk lid. It was like magic when I wiped buffed the spot out.

Used on four vehicles with varying quality of finishes from beat up daily commuter to car show driver. Product was used by hand in all cases. The product will remove most haze and leave the finish smooth. The product will not remove water spots or stains. Light scratches can still be seen in the finish as well. Overall, the product is easy to use, it does some of what it claims, but I don't see any advantage to using this product for the price compared to others on the market.

Pros

  • It will work on any paint and work great

Cons

    Best Uses

    • Refurbishing old or neglected paint

Comments about Meguiar's Ultimate Compound Liquid Polish (16 oz.):

I just show a friend how 40 year old paint on a car his father left him could be refurbished. We used a DA buffer and an Orange Buffing Pad and the results were awesome. I also used it on a car where the clear-coat was gone and it work like a charm to bring back the dead paint until the car can be repainted

This is must for any detailing job. Just get the car completely clean and dry, rub on a little with an applicator pad, then buff off with a microfiber towel. Car finishes 10, 20, or 30 years old will shine like new.

This stuff really helped out my paint. The paint on the metal parts wasn't terrible but this helped the swirls for sure. The biggest difference was on the bumpers where the paint was beginning to fade. After using this then waxing afterwards you would never know it started to fade. Will be using this everytime before I wax from now on. BEWARE though you want to apply a VERY thin coat. Even a tiny bit too thick makes it near impossible to remove.

                  A:

Hi DC, I'm glad to assist you. While using this Meguiar's Ultimate Compound Liquid Polish (16 oz.) (Part No. G17216), you shouldn't let it dry. As long as you follow that advice, it works very well. You can remove dried sections of it by applying another coat of it or using Meguiars quick detailer. You can also try using diluted Isopropyl Alcohol (50:50 dilution with distilled water) and a soft microfiber towel to help safely remove without further marring the surface.

                  A:

Hi Muji, good question! You may be able to use the microfiber applicator pads but if you scrub too hard into the paint you could cause scratches. With the Ultimate Compound we would still suggest using a foam applicator pad to apply compound like this.

                  A:

I'm happy to help, Muji! Meguiar's Ultimate Compound Liquid Polish is designed to be applied by hand with a soft cloth or with a dual action polisher. The dual action polisher will make the job much easier. With either method make sure to use a circular motion when applying.

If you're looking to really make the car shine a great option that is often overlooked is a clay bar. The clay bar will help remove any small debris that could cause swirl marks in your paint when applying the wax and polish. Meguiar's Smooth Surface Clay Kit Part No. G1016 can help to give you the best shine and smoothest finish on your vehicle.
