I have restored headlamp lenses on four vehicles with varying degrees of surface damage. Meguiar's Plastx worked acceptably well only on lenses that were lightly damaged.

Another reviewer stated it well when he said that Plastx works when the plastic is not rough to the touch.

I question the accuracy of any claims that Plastx can restore lenses that are yellowed or extremely cloudy. A more aggressive grit (sandpaper or at least polishing compound) is required to restore lenses in those conditions. Advance Auto has an excellent selection of headlamp restoration products.

Also, unless you want to expend a significant amount of elbow grease, you should get one of the foam discs that can be chucked in a drill (also sold at Advance) to apply Plastx. Be aware that Plastx will splatter in all directions when you use the rotating disc, so it is best to do the work outside away from things you don't want splattered.

Comments about Meguiar's PlastX Clear Plastic Liquid Cleaner and Polish (10 oz.):

I bought a used car and the instrument cluster panel "glass" was in pretty bad shape. It was pretty bad. Have u ever tried to clean plastic safety glasses with acetone?
It will make plastic blurry, foggy, hazy..... I don't know what previous owner used to clean that panel , but it looked like when I accidentally cleaned my glasses with acetone long time ago.
I got PLASTIC X rubbed it on the panel according to the instructions and the panel is crispy clear like brand new.

Cleared up scratches to restore the gauges to a new appearance. As a car detailer, I use this product to quickly polish the plastic back to a shine. Tough marks may take a few applications, but will improve.

It does work instantly on yellowed lens if the surface is still smooth. It won't work if the surface is rough with some mineral deposits. You will need fine sandpaper first for rough surface.

This product really works great for plastic convertible rear windows (soft plastics). It does remove yellowing and clarifies blurry plastics. However it will not remove any of the black stains typical on older convertible plastic windows. Highly recommend this product. Try it before you pay to replace your existing window!
