Comments about MagnaFlow Direct Fit Catalytic Converter, Stainless Steel:

For $600 less than the OE Honda convertor, this is a surprisingly good replacement for the stock unit. Mine came with both gaskets for input/output sides of the convertor but did not include any bolts.

Was able to reuse the spring bolts on the input side but the three nuts at the output flange were too rusted to be reused plus the stock cat uses press fit studs which can't be reused anyway. Simple solution was to visit local big box store and get three 10MM Dia X 1.5 X 30MM long grade 8 bolts with nuts/lock washers.

If you don't have a vehicle lift, the easiest way to replace the cat is to take off the entire "B" pipe (between header pipe and muffler) and work with the convertor in open space. Beware, that does mean removing the spring bolts at the muffler end so new spring bolts and gasket may be necessary there.

Comments about MagnaFlow Direct Fit Catalytic Converter, Stainless Steel:

Apparently Catalytic Converters typically fail at right around 100k on 2000 Honda civics. The Magnaflow Direct Fit CC does just what it says it does. Works and comes with everything you need to fit (provided you are able to still use the bolts that come off the old CC). This thing took about 15 minutes to completely install compared to the nearly two hours it took trying to get the old CC off. When removing the old CC, remember to have a can of liquid wrench ready and a breaker bar if you have one. Also, I suggest grabbing one of those specially designed O2 Sensor sockets that attach to a ratchet (too tight of a spot to get onto an impact wrench) to aid in removal and reinstallation of the O2 Sensor. That about covers it. Good luck!

Comments about MagnaFlow Direct Fit Catalytic Converter, Stainless Steel:

Replaced a catalytic converter on a 2000 Civic with 182,000 miles and p0420 code. Since car was in Washington DC for first 5 years, most of the bolts were rusted on and had to be cut off- not fun. Suggest you take the entire pipe from the converter to the muffler off as a unit to allow easier removal of converter bolts and to clean up the flanges with a wire wheel on a bench grinder- or similar. The exhaust pipe flange face needs to be clean to allow the new gasket to work properly. It would have been great if Advance offered the bolts on the discharge side of the converter- however, they do offer the ones on the intake side. Honda wanted approx. $40 for 3 bolts with nuts. I simply went to our local bolt and nut warehouse and paid $1.50 for three 10 MM Dia X 1.25 X 30 MM long grade 8 bolts with nuts. Converter fit fine and so far has corrected the P0420 code. Did not need to replace the O2 sensors.
