I had a rattling noise that seemed to be at around 2k rpm and searched online for a remedy. Through my search I read that the Honda 2001 CR-V year models have a pipe that comes loose inside the catalytic converter and rattles at certain rpm. Well they said that if you put some avaiation clamps around the heat shield it would silence the rattle...well that didn't work. I went and ordered Direct Fit Catalylic Converter and also ordered the gaskets(which I didn't need)for the description didn't mention any gaskets included. It was easy to install, but I had to get 3 bolts for the installation because the original unit had 3 fixed bolts on it. I found out that the rattle was actually a loose section of the catalyic material and not a loose pipe. It's much quieter now without that annoying rattle!

This is a replacement catalytic converter. The advantage of this particular model is the mounting system. The original part has two pipe ends tack welded to two pipe fittings with mounting plates of the outer ends. This part already has the mounting system attached. Simply unbolt your old, deteriorated part and replace.

I was pleased to find the part came with the two gaskets. The total cost for the two gaskets sold individually was about 15 dollars. I had anticipated buying the gaskets so getting them with the package felt like a bonus. I did spend 10 dollars to replace the mounting hardware which was rusty but probably could have been reused. I also needed to buy a deep socket set in order to get at the rusty bolts.

Comments about MagnaFlow Direct Fit Catalytic Converter:

Perfect fit on my CRV. Nice that gaskets included. It did not require any modification or welding, it just bolted right on and came with a full 5 year warranty. Shipping included in price and product arrived in a timely manner. I use Advance exclusively for all my automotive needs they are knowledgeable and helpful. One tip for consumers don't throw your old cat away most metal recycling companies will pay you $35.00-$50.00 for your old converter as long as the platinum core is still in the shell.

The fit worked great. Had the old one out and this one in in no time (oxy acetylene tourch helps a lot). It came with all the parts I needed and was a direct fit. Cleared the code and it never came back.

Comments about MagnaFlow Direct Fit Catalytic Converter:

If direct fit means rotating 270* till it fits I guess it's a direct fit. O2 sensor now points horizontally towards driver side of vehicle rather then up. Comes with gaskets is a plus if the gaskets came! Took 2 more days and many phone calls to get gaskets then rear gasket didn't fit. Overall price is right and it does fit just the usual bull required for an aftermarket part.

The part fell apart in a few months

Comments about MagnaFlow Direct Fit Catalytic Converter:

I purchased this Cat and a few O2 sensors to remedy a P0420 issue on a Honda. This didn't correct the issue. I made a few additional minor repairs and still didn't correct the issue. After about 3 months of troubleshooting, I went to my mechanic. He pulled the new Cat I had just installed a few months ago, and it was hollow. Literally this cat fell apart in about 3-4 months. I'm not certain the brand my mechanic used, but no check engine light the car runs great. I would not recommend buying this part.

Comments about MagnaFlow Direct Fit Catalytic Converter:

At least some other brands of replacement Catalytic Converters provide replacement bolts (and springs). None provided with this one. The three outlet bolts on the original were welded to the CC case, so replacements had to be found. I would have replaced the inlet two bolts and springs if it didn't need another trip to the dealer.

Comments about MagnaFlow Direct Fit Catalytic Converter:

Great product for a factory replacement. Needs to come with the factory style studs at the back end. You have to carefully remove them from the old converter without damaging the threads then install them into the new unit. I don't like to hammer on a converter but that is the quickest way to install them. Wish the Warranty coverage was better.

Hi there Steve! Happy to help! The 2 gaskets pictured will be included with this catalytic converter. Be sure the check the fit of this part on our website or with your local store. Also when doing the job we suggest PB Blaster to loosen those hard to remove bolts (Part No 16-PB). And when doing the job be sure to wear proper face protection.
