Comments about MagnaFlow Direct Fit Catalytic Converter:

Purchased this in Sept. of 2013. Now only 42 months later one of the converters became very noisy due to broken internal parts. Original equipment Cat lasted 13 years. This brand only 42 months. Will never ever buy a MagnaFlow brand again! Trust me!

Comments about MagnaFlow Direct Fit Catalytic Converter:

Replacing an y-pipe is not on top of my list of things to do. All the nuts came off (with a little heat) easily and the new y-pipe went on some what smooth. Just a few push and pulls also a little bang here and there. It was nice that it was a 2 piece y-pipe. The y-pipe did how ever came up a little short so we had to put pressure on the tail pipe to make up about 1 1/2 inch gap.

Replaced the original cats with this set when they no longer passed inspection. This part was easy to install and came with the gaskets. Only problem is the cats intefere with each other and rattle at certain RPM and when starting engine.

Comments about MagnaFlow Direct Fit Catalytic Converter:

The direct bolt in application was great. The only problem was that one of the O2 sensor threaded bosses had a piece of welding slag in the threads and I had to remove the whole "Y-pipe" assembly to chase the threads. I almost destroyed the threads on the O2 sensor! I was able to tap the threads and then it worked fine.

Comments about MagnaFlow Direct Fit Catalytic Converter:

I installed this on my 97 GMC with 240+K miles. The old one had died, to the point the catalyst "nets" had melted down to clumps of metal on one side. The installation was easy (the de-install of the old one another story) and was performed on ramps in my driveway. The two piece design facilitated installation. The only con I could find was that nowhere does it mention the need of exhaust sealant to be used and needs to be used generously at the rear flange and on the tube connection. Comes with gasket and donuts*2 though I used the old ones, as I felt they fit better (opinion only as the new ones probably would have functioned fine)

I have a 97 k1500 with the 5.7, my truck has 4 o2 sensors. One in front of each converter and one behind each. The picture does not show the plugs to screw them into, so are they on the pipe or do I have to have them welded on?
