    • Q:

Is this product safe against cooper or brass bushings?

      • CUSTOMER CARE

        A:

No, the Lucas Oil Products SAE 85W-140 Gear Oil 1 Quart - Part No. 10042 has some effect on copper and brass bushings. Instead I would recommend any transmission fluid like Pennzoil Synchromesh Manual Transmission Fluid (32 oz.) - Part No. 3501 which is compatible with "yellow" materials like bronze, brass and copper. For any further assistance please feel free to call us at: 1-877-238-2623 or visit the nearest Advance Auto Parts store and one of our Parts Pros will gladly assist you with any questions or concerns you may have.

    • Q:

Can I use this product in my Land Rover Discovery 2 rear transfer box? It has a very slight leak (1-2 Drops daily) and calls for 75w90. The 85W140 could be a little heavier and be less likely to leak.

      Is this good logic?

      • A:

This is a GL5 oil, do not use in a manual transmission with brass synchronize rings that calls for GL4 oil as the GL5 additives may be too slippery and prevent proper operation and cause damage.
