I have used Lucas Oil Stop Leak 3 times on my '03 Ford Taurus, just passed 200,000 miles. The first time I simply added to my oil as the level was dropping about 3/4 of a quart every 2 weeks. After adding it, the oil level didn't drop. The other 2 times I added during an oil change. I've gone almost 3 months since that oil change and its only about 3/4 of a quart below full. It may not "stop" oil loss, but its close enough, as I do not have to add oil between oil changes. I also extends the oil life.

I've had a slow leak somewhere on the top of the engine on my 2000 Lincoln LS with the 3.9L, V8 that about 148K miles on it, and the guy at Advanced said this is the stuff he would use. I poured in the entire bottle and added a Quart of oil. Drove the car for about a half hour and it was seeming to run a little bit better after driving it at a constant speed of 55mph. Hopefully it will work and fix the leak.

Comments about Lucas Oil Products Engine Oil Stop Leak 32 oz.:

Lucas Oil Stop Leak is a thick additive to be used motor oil to help seal piston rings and seals within the motor. This product is made from the same base stock and the Lucas Oil Heavy Duty Oil Stabilizer and is the same consistency. I would recommend that this product be poured in first then the remainder of the standard motor oil being used in an attempt to flush the thicker oil down to the oil pan. As stated this product is very thick and the directions should be followed closely if you are considering using the product. Yes, this product can raise your oil pressure but it should also be noted that pressure and flow are not the same thing. My personal use has not shown a vast improvment but that is only over the short term. I belive Lucas make quality products and I'll continue to use them.

I have used Lucas products in all of my vehicles over 50,000 miles, and in my mowers and blowers small engines. I add with each oil change and have made these engines last a long time (my snowblower is 22 years old and the mower is 12 yrs old) Lucas oil is a name and brand I will always trust, as it has paid for itself in longevity of the engines.

This is the third time I have used this product to try and stop small oil leaks on three different vehicles. In each case it was ineffective. I just thought that it being a Lucas product that I would get "lucky" and it was bound to work eventually. Not so. On the latest try it NEVER did anything to stop or slow down a small leak from the pan gasket. Disappointing.

I was adding a quart of regular oil every 2 weeks. Added nearly a quart of Lucas Oil Stop Leak, engine is no longer burning oil. Great product,

i had small leak, I pour other stop leak products, that made worst than before and check engine light, oil pressure lights on. I pour this one, all my problems solve, engine running smoother, leak fixed. I would recommend this. First check your oil level dip stick if its below then add this entire bottle. IF your dipstick shows oil is correct level or max, then remove some of oil and pour entire bottle, in a 25 to 30 miles you will notice the difference.

I have an '02 Mercury Sable with the DOHC engine and 100k miles on it. It had a minor oil leak that was determined to becoming from the timing chain cover. It was annoying as the oil would tend to drip on to the hot exhaust pipe below it and the smoke smell would come in through the vents every so often. The cost estimate to replace the gasket was $1700.00 (about half the amount the car is worth) as the engine basically has to be lifted out of the car partially and disassembled quite a way to get the timing chain cover off. I drained a quart of oil and put the quart of Lucas in, and the leak gradually slowed down and stopped after a few hundred miles. No more drips, and no more smoke smell. I will continue to use this product at oil changes for as long as it continues to keep the engine from dripping oil.

Comments about Lucas Oil Products Engine Oil Stop Leak 32 oz.:

For the first time I used synthetic oil for an change on my1999 Toyota Solara with 270,000 miles. Right away the valve cover gaskets began to leak and I smelled burning oil. I drained out one quart of oil and added Stop Leak and drove for five weeks, but the leak continued. I drained out the synthetic oil and replaced with high mileage non synthetic oil and the leak continued. I then drained out a quart and added Stop Leak. Within two days of driving, the leak stopped.

The rules, don't use synthetic oil in a high mileage car. Lucas Stop Leak works great with non synthetic oil.

Hi Dixie, I'm glad to assist you. The stop leak is only going to work on minor leaks. Overfilling the oil usually results in the excess being burnt off with white smoke at the exhaust pipe. If drastically overfilled it could get past seals into the clutch or transmission. If it is seriously over, drain all the oil out and put the correct amount back in. Any home mechanic could do this.

It is an automotive product designed to help older or higher mileage vehicles maintain their oil level. As engines age, worn seals can cause them to burn off an excessive amount of oil or leak oil. According to Lucas, the product can help reduce or eliminate the amount of oil burning or leaking. It needs to be added when you change the oil on your vehicle. Happy to help with your question Elliot! It is possible that this additive can help with your oil leaks, the additive helps expand worn seals to seal up leaks temporarily. Just keep in mind that it may not work if you have a severe leak.
