I have used Lucas Oil Stop Leak 3 times on my '03 Ford Taurus, just passed 200,000 miles. The first time I simply added to my oil as the level was dropping about 3/4 of a quart every 2 weeks. After adding it, the oil level didn't drop. The other 2 times I added during an oil change. I've gone almost 3 months since that oil change and its only about 3/4 of a quart below full. It may not "stop" oil loss, but its close enough, as I do not have to add oil between oil changes. I also extends the oil life.

I've had a slow leak somewhere on the top of the engine on my 2000 Lincoln LS with the 3.9L, V8 that about 148K miles on it, and the guy at Advanced said this is the stuff he would use. I poured in the entire bottle and added a Quart of oil. Drove the car for about a half hour and it was seeming to run a little bit better after driving it at a constant speed of 55mph. Hopefully it will work and fix the leak.

Comments about Lucas Oil Products Engine Oil Stop Leak 32 oz.:

i had small leak, I pour other stop leak products, that made worst than before and check engine light, oil pressure lights on. I pour this one, all my problems solve, engine running smoother, leak fixed. I would recommend this. First check your oil level dip stick if its below then add this entire bottle. IF your dipstick shows oil is correct level or max, then remove some of oil and pour entire bottle, in a 25 to 30 miles you will notice the difference.

Comments about Lucas Oil Products Engine Oil Stop Leak 32 oz.:

I have an '02 Mercury Sable with the DOHC engine and 100k miles on it. It had a minor oil leak that was determined to becoming from the timing chain cover. It was annoying as the oil would tend to drip on to the hot exhaust pipe below it and the smoke smell would come in through the vents every so often. The cost estimate to replace the gasket was $1700.00 (about half the amount the car is worth) as the engine basically has to be lifted out of the car partially and disassembled quite a way to get the timing chain cover off. I drained a quart of oil and put the quart of Lucas in, and the leak gradually slowed down and stopped after a few hundred miles. No more drips, and no more smoke smell. I will continue to use this product at oil changes for as long as it continues to keep the engine from dripping oil.

Comments about Lucas Oil Products Engine Oil Stop Leak 32 oz.:

For the first time I used synthetic oil for an change on my1999 Toyota Solara with 270,000 miles. Right away the valve cover gaskets began to leak and I smelled burning oil. I drained out one quart of oil and added Stop Leak and drove for five weeks, but the leak continued. I drained out the synthetic oil and replaced with high mileage non synthetic oil and the leak continued. I then drained out a quart and added Stop Leak. Within two days of driving, the leak stopped.

The rules, don't use synthetic oil in a high mileage car. Lucas Stop Leak works great with non synthetic oil.

I noticed a moderate leak coming from the oil pan gasket area and leaking on the asphalt pavement at the parking lot at work. I used Lucas oil stop leak to top off my quart low oil on my 1996 Pontiac Sunfire SE with 171,000 miles. I drove the car over 100 miles thus far and have observed the leak on the pavement was reduced in size from 4 inch diameter to the size of a quarter. The oil pan dip stick is still on full and their is less oil consumption . I recommend this product thus far.

I have a 05 mazda 6s with 75k miles on it and had a minor oil leak from the front timing chain cover, I was told by the dealer that the model engine suffers from that and it was going to be very expensive to fix so I use this product along with Castrol gtx high mileage oil and its been about three weeks and no leaks, the only bad part is that the same products and the same amount has to be used at every oil change and that is an expensive oil change but no oil leaks :-)

Hello Denny. Thank you for your question. We do not suggest mixing oil additives. They may not affect engine performance but they may dilute themselves so they are less effective. We suggest to only use 1 oil additive at a time.

Hi Dixie, I'm glad to assist you. The stop leak is only going to work on minor leaks. Overfilling the oil usually results in the excess being burnt off with white smoke at the exhaust pipe. If drastically overfilled it could get past seals into the clutch or transmission. If it is seriously over, drain all the oil out and put the correct amount back in. Any home mechanic could do this.

                      A:

I'm happy to help, EJ! The Lucas Oil Products Engine Oil Stop Leak (Part No. 10278) is engineered for use with motor oil and would not be correct for any power steering system. The correct power steering fluid for your 2010 Audi Q5 3.2L V6 is Audi Part No G002000 or G004000 or equivalent. The specifications of Part No. G004000 are met by Beck/Arnley Pentosin Hydraulic Fluid - CHF202 (Part No. 252-0016) and the specifications of Part No. G002000 are met by Beck/Arnley Pentosin Hydraulic Fluid - CHF11S (Part No. 252-0008).

It sounds like the product you're looking for is Lucas Oil Products Power Steering Stop Leak (Part No. 10008). Audi does not recommend the use of additives in your power steering system. This product may or may not correct the leak. You may still need to have the seal or hose that is leaking replaced.

Hi Busty, glad to assist you! Lucas Engine Oil Stop Leak is an automotive product designed to help older or higher mileage vehicles maintain their oil level. As engines age, worn seals can cause them to burn off an excessive amount of oil or leak oil. According to Lucas, the product can help reduce or eliminate the amount of oil burning or leaking. It needs to be added when you change the oil on your vehicle. Instructions: Drain the oil, and change the oil filter on your vehicle like you normally would. This will vary depending on the make, model and year of your vehicle. Multiply the engine oil capacity by 20 percent (.20) to determine how much Lucas Engine Oil Stop Leak you need to use. For example, if the oil capacity is 6 quarts, you would need to use 1.2 quarts of Lucas, since 6 x .2 = 1.2. Subtract the amount of Lucas you will be using from the engine oil capacity to determine how much oil you will be using with the Lucas. You don't want to overfill the oil pan. Continuing the example, 6 - 1.2 = 4.8. So, if your engine holds 6 quarts of oil, you would use 1.2 quarts of Lucas and 4.8 quarts of oil. Pour the recommended amount of Lucas Engine Oil Stop Leak into the funnel. Allow it to pass through the funnel into the engine. Pour the oil into the funnel, and allow it to pass through the funnel as well. Remove the funnel, and replace the oil cap. Drive the vehicle as you normally would. Monitor the engine oil level every few days to ensure the engine is no longer leaking or burning oil.
