Comments about Locksmart Ignition Lock Cylinder and Keys:

Installed and successfully programmed first unit but after starting several times the cylinder would not turn. I was unable to turn to the run position to remove it for return so I was forced to destroy a perfectly good switch at the cost of an additional $95.00 to get get it out for return to the store where it was replaced. Second unit was installed and programmed and is working properly. I've been a mechanic for over 30 years and am aware that once in a while you get a bad part out of the box but having to buy an additional part that wasn't bad (the switch) didn't sit well.

I bought this thing and it doesn't work properly. I was trying to replace this hoping it would fix a starting problem I had. 1) It didn't fix the starting problem, and 2) it door chime continues even after the key is out of the ignition. I'll be taking it back and replacing it with another one. I'm an avid Advance Auto fan, so I'm not going to disown them just because of a damaged part.

Comments about Locksmart Ignition Lock Cylinder and Keys:

Returned to store after I tried to use this. The plastic cam on the backside that fits in the ignition switch did not spring back after the key was removed, and the car thought the key was still in the ignition. I tried using a bit of lube to try to work attempt to break it in but this did not work. Beware of this if buying this product make sure you inspect before you leave the store.
I bought the MasterPro from Oreilly and it worked great.

Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF. Now attempt to start the engine, then release the key to ON. If vehicle do not start, observe the security telltale. After approximately 10 minutes the telltale will turn OFF. Turn OFF the ignition, and wait 5 seconds. The vehicle is now ready to relearn the Passlock Sensor Data Code and/or passwords on the next ignition switch transition from OFF to CRANK. You must turn the ignition OFF before attempting to start the vehicle. Start the engine, the vehicle has now learned the Passlock Sensor Data Code and/or password. With a scan tool, clear any DTCs if needed, history DTCs will self clear after 100 ignition cycles.

                              A:

Yes, this Locksmart Ignition Lock Cylinder and Keys with part# LC63730 needs to program the pass lock feature after installation. Car starts but security will not go out without programming, and you will have problems unless you program even if car starts after installation.
