  • Q:

Are these as reliable as tire chains? If not how much difference.

Hi Andrew96, glad to serve you! Although snow chains and snow cables perform a similar job, there are few differences between them, enough to affect which one you should ultimately choose. Snow Chains are made of large and heavy steel links and are often used for 2WD vehicles. Although snow cables are effective, snow chains seem to provide more traction. Snow Cables are made of steel aircraft cable, encased in alloy traction coils, and are often used for 4WD vehicles. Due to their makeup, snow cables are lighter in weight than snow chains and are easier to apply/remove. They are also less expensive than snow chains. Snow chains and snow cables will last longer when they are used appropriately. To find out if your tires can be equipped with chains, check your vehicle’s maintenance or owner’s manual to verify that it contains no warnings advising against the installation of snow chains. Some cars and trucks have very little clearance between the tire and other internal components, which may restrict your options to cables only.

  • Q:

On 12-17-14 I asked if the Laclede Passenger Cable Tire chains part no. 1026 would fit tire size 195/65-15 for a 2013 toyota corolla and tire size 195/60-15 for a 2003 hyundia elantra. I got a reply the next day saying that the 1026 will fit the 195/65-15 tire and that I would need to purchase part 1030 to fit the tire 195/60-15. I purchased both part numbers and on part number 1026 it lists the tire sizes these chains fit. neither of the tire sizes are listed for 1026 yet on the 1030 set both tire sizes are listed. Am I missing something here or was I given the wrong information to begin with?

Tire chains are available for your vehicle. To find out the part number specifically for your vehicle, some more information would be needed. We would need the tire size on your vehicle to help you out better.
