Check Vehicle Fit

Ride Comfort may be important, but restoring a vehicle’s Ride Control; stability, stopping, lane change responsiveness and handling is critical. KYB Excel-G Shocks & Struts are designed for the most important performance purpose: Restoring the vehicle’s original capabilities. KYB is a world leading supplier of shocks and struts to new vehicle manufacturers and the Excel-G is made on the very same KYB OE assembly lines, uses the same OE quality components and is calibrated to restore original, designed performance, not change it. That has earned Excel-G the classification: OEA (Original Equipment for the Aftermarket). The KYB Excel-G is a nitrogen gas-charged, twin-tube design that includes every quality component that our global OEM products include and it is the preferred choice for Asian vehicles.

Product Features:
  • #1 recommended Original Equipment replacement choice for Asian SUVs and Crossovers
  • Specifically calibrated to help restore the original handling and control characteristics of the Toyota truck-based SUVs
  • Uses a seamless working cylinder matched with a Teflon coated piston band for a positive seal and longer life
  • Triple chrome plated piston rod and multi-lip oil seals that reduce wear

Hi Rick, great question! I researched and found that this shock absorber fits only for 4WD. In order to locate the exact shock absorber please provide the model and engine size of your 2010 Toyota vehicle.

      1 answer

Yes, this KYB Gas Shock(Part No. 341340) fits your 2005 Toyota Tacoma. Instructions: 1. Raise the vehicle with the floor jack. 2. Remove the wheel and tire with the lug wrench by turning the nuts in a counterclockwise direction. Set the wheel and tire aside. 3. Loosen the lower shock absorber mount nut by turning it in a counterclockwise direction, but do not completely remove it. 4. Remove the top mount bolts, or twin mounting screws, or single mount post nut by turning them all counterclockwise. The shock's eyelet will either go through the mount bolt, or be mounted to a plate that fastens to the underside of the vehicle. Front shocks will typically mount into large holes at a vertical angle, protected by bushings. 5. Remove the lower mount nut by turning it out completely, and the shock will slide off of the mount bolt and out of the vehicle. 6. Replace the shock absorber and position it onto the upper mount bolt. Secure it to the top mount, but do not tighten the nuts or bolts completely. 7. Line up the lower mount bolt, then cut the keeper strap on the new shock. Press the lower eyelet onto the mount bolt as the shock decompresses, then tighten the lower mount nut in a clockwise direction. 8. Tighten the upper mount nuts completely. 9. Replace the wheel and tighten the lug nuts clockwise, in an alternating pattern. 10. Lower the vehicle from the floor jack. Tools You'll Need: Socket set, Floor jack, Lug wrench, Screwdrivers.

    • Q:

Are shocks and struts two separate things, or are they essentially two parts of the same piece? Thanks!
      Asked on 10/19/2011 by Anonymous

      1 answer

Shocks and struts do the same thing control the bounce of the car. Struts are on the front of some cars. They well incorporate the spring as part of them. A shock well be in the middle of the front spring clearly seen as a separate part.
