Comments about K & W Chemical K&W Automatic Transmission Slip-Stop and Leak Fix:

My car would not go in reverse at times ( very annoying ) Tried other additives with little results. Figured "what the heck" I'll try K&W's Trans-x. WOW was I impressed went in reverse right away and has worked ever since. By the way this is the first review I have ever written. I have already recommended the to my other backyard buddy's. It really worked for me.

Comments about K & W Chemical K&W Automatic Transmission Slip-Stop and Leak Fix:

I have never written a review on a product until today. I was reluctant to purchase this product, as a rule I purchase Lucas products first and foremost. I read the reviews on this product and decided to try it. Let me say this, for a day my transmission was skip shifting, slipping and not downshifting. I put this in, and placed vehicle in reverse. I then backed out of the driveway, placed into drive and it slipped for a second and BAM it was instantly as if I had replaced the transmission! NO JOKE. It has been running perfectly for three days so far. I am totally impressed. The leak has also stopped after about three hundred miles of driving. I will purchase this product again and again.

Have used it in 4 vehicles, to resolve slippage, a stuck valve and sluggish shifting. One of the best products of any kind that I have ever used.

I was quoted $1300 to repair a transmission. I decided I would try Trans X and replace filter. I changed the transmission fluid and filter an added Trans X. I used the car 2 more years without any further transmission problems. It is the only Transmission additive I will use.

I have a 1997 Mercury Sable that was shifting in and out of overdrive and would shift hard in to second gear sometimes.I changed the filter and fluid and added Trans-X. The cars transmission is shifting smooth and has not jumped out of overdrive lately.

              • Q:

Hello, I have a 1995 Dodge Stratus w/ 141,000mi and recently I have noticed that it takes a long time for my car to shift into the appropriate gear, my RPM will be very high and speedometer would be low in speed. It also takes a long to reach the speeds such as 30, 40mph,etc. I know its transmission related. One day my car started to cut back, rpm started to fluctuation up and down, one time went to 70 and back very quickly. I kept driving to get to a place to pull over. While doing so it started to cut back even more to the point that the car just cut off and I had to veer over off the road. It did start back up, we were able to drive it back to my house which is about 8-10 miles from where I pulled over. Like everyone else, is there a solution to this than having to take it to a mechanic and having to pay 100s -1,000s of dollars for a car this old and high miles. Will a viscosity additive like Luca's or K&W transmission slip-stop and leak fix work? Your thoughts..

                1 answer

                • CUSTOMER CARE

                  A:

I'm happy to help, Denise! If you have not already had the transmission fluid on your 1995 Dodge Stratus changed, I suggest a fluid and filter change first. Your vehicle requires at least 4 quarts of ATF+4, such as CARQUEST Oil & Fluids ATF+4 (Part No. A104) and Driveworks Automatic Transmission Filter Kit (Part No. DW-FK177).

Transmission slipping could be caused by low fluid, burnt or ineffective fluid (needs replaced), a leak, worn or broken bands, clutch problems, worn out gears, solenoid problems or torque converter issues. This K & W Chemical Trans-X® Automatic Transmission Slip-Stop & Leak Fix (Part No. 402033) may or may not help with your transmission problems. If this fixes the problem. A Haynes Repair Manual (Part No. 25015) will include additional diagnostic information as well as fluid and filter change procedures. If you need additional diagnostic assistance, I suggest having your vehicle diagnosed by a certified mechanic.

I'm happy to help, James! On most vehicles you will use 1 quart (32 oz.) of this K & W Chemical Automatic Transmission Slip-Stop and Leak Fix (Part No. 402033). Vehicles with smaller transmissions may use less. Your 2003 Ford Ranger 3.0L V6 or Toyota Sienna may be considered smaller transmissions. Make sure to follow the instructions listed on the bottle when adding this product to your transmission. For two vehicles, at most, you should only need 2 quarts.

                  A:

I'm happy to help, Sticky Transmission Solenoid! Your 2006 Chevrolet HHR with a 4T45E transmission is designed to use Dexron VI or equivalent ATF and no additional additives are recommended by GM. You may be able to free the sticking solenoid by removing it and cleaning it. The solenoid could need to be replaced as well. It is normally located inside of the transmission pan on the valve body. Or, if it's been some time since your vehicle's last service, it would probably be a good time to have the transmission fluid changed.

If you need additional diagnostic help I suggest checking with a mechanic. Try our 'Need expert help?' link further down this page if you need help finding one.
