Check Vehicle Fit

The K&N 57-3031-1 FIPK air intake system replaces your vehicle’s restrictive factory air filter and air intake housing. K&N intakes are designed to dramatically reduce intake restriction as they smooth and straighten air flow. This allows your engine to inhale a larger amount of air than the factory air filter assembly. More air means more usable power and acceleration throughout the engine’s RPM range. The 57-3031-1 air intake comes with a chrome topped K&N high-flow air filter and a heat shield that installs into the air cleaner mounting tray. Air is directed through an aerodynamically engineered intake tube into the engine’s throttle body for a guaranteed power gain. The tube accommodates the factory mass air sensor. The oversized cone shaped air filter can be used for up to 100,000 miles before servicing is needed depending on driving conditions. This air intake is relatively easy to install usually in 90 minutes or less using the existing factory mounting points. The tools needed are a screwdriver and two wrenches. K&N 57 Series FIPK's are street legal in all 50 US states and come with K&N's Million Mile Limited Warranty.

Comments about K&N Performance Intake Kit:

The truck I put it on(a GMC 2500HD 6.0)pulls a 26' fifth wheel RV. I was only getting about 9- 10 mph. The mileage has increased around 2 mpg and I can pull the hills easier.

    • Q:

How does the spectre Performance intake kit compare to the K&N Intake kit ?
There isn't a lot in the specifications section for K&N intake kit so not easy to compare specs.
There is also no prices on these porducts on line. but I do know the K&N kit from what I hear is a lot more money. Is it worth the money, OR could I save a few bucks and get the same kind of performace and mileage out of the Spectre ?
      I'm driving a 2002 GMC Seirra 6.0 2500HD 4X4 Flow master exhuast system

        A:

The K&N Performance Intake Kit - Part No. 57-3031-1 is crafted from high density polyethylene. This helps keep the tube, and the air inside, cooler since it doesn’t transfer heat like metal tubes. K&N uses an advanced mandrel bending process when building the intakes that have metal tubes. This uniform internal shape allows air to flow freely through the tube without restriction, giving an edge over lesser intakes. Unlike K&N, all of the intakes that Spectre builds use a mandrel-bent, chrome-finished intake tube. At the tip of these tubes are cotton gauze air filters, so they share all the same basic ingredients as K&N. There is not much difference between these intake kits and both these brands share the same basic ingredients.
