I bought this today to help me take out a threaded oil plug that I accidentally tore up because the bolt was on far too tightly. This has been the only ratchet head to not slip off the plug and though I had to use a good old kick just to get it loose, it kept it's grip on the bolt. If only you knewy relief of finally finding a tool that doesn't shred an overly tight bolt.

Spent several hours trying to remove a stuck oil pan drain plug before I bought this tool. Only took 5 minutes with this tool. The 11/16 inch size worked on a 17 mm drain plug.

My 2003 Ford Mustang had a rounded off oil pan bolt; previos oil change location - Thank you. I purchased a set of these and presto, in 15 seconds the tool removed the stipped bolt. I live in the Midwest and the de-icer they're using in winter is causing parts and fasteners to corrode and rust like crazy. What should have been a 1 hour job to swap some alignment adjustment arms on my rear suspension turned into a nearly day long job. The bolts were fully rusted into the welded, captured nuts, and after rounding-over the heads I had to use the Irwin extractor. It was strong enough to grab the head, turn the bolt and even partially break-loose the weld of the captured nut on one bolt. On the other bolt a smaller size was strong enough to grab the body of the bolt and extract the remains after I had snapped the head off the bolt. What really surprises me is the teeth of extractor I had pounded-onto the bolt with a 2 lb hammer still look like new. I was certain they'd be a bit chewed-up or rounded-over. They're not. These have been in my tool box 'just in case' and I am so glad they were. I'm going to order the 'filler' pack to fill-in my kit.

This is a great set of tools. They are high-quality, and do a nice job. A nice feature of these, that you do not find in other bolt removers, is the hex pattern on the shank. This allows you to put a wrench on the tool, if for some reason you do not want to use a ratchet. These helped me remove very rusted bolts during exhaust work. Combine these with a handheld induction heater and never fear a rusty bolt again!

Worked perfectly first time. You can use sockets, wrenches or plug the ratchet drive directly into it. Tried multiple other ways to remove a stripped bolt without success. Great buy. Does only support 3/8" drive but I had a part to step the 1/2" drive on my torque wrench down to 3/8"

I changed my oil but the drain plug head was rounded off. First try got it out. One of the best tools in my tool box.
