I bought this kit for use to pull out rusted solid rounded off lawnmower engine bolts. I tried several times to get bolt off but socket would not stay gripped to the bolt to break it free. I wish I could take this set back and get my money back because if this kit cannot work on some averaged sized lawnmower engine bolts, I cannot expect them to work anywhere else.

Comments about Irwin Bolt Out with Case:

Had a oem suspension bolt that was completely rounded off. the bolt out removed it on the first try and didn't slip at all.
The kit with the case was the same price as without so its worth it to have but the case is poorly designed and doesn't keep the bolt outs in order if you bump it around, still nice to have so you know where they're at.

Just Tried!

By

Comments about Irwin Bolt Out with Case:

Just received set, I'm trying to remove alternator bolt off a 2000 GMC Safari. All it wants to do slips off. I don't know it the angle of the bolt or what. I tried to hammer it on and it just slips off. I wish it was 1/2" drive instead of 3/8" drive, probably have more leverage. Otherwise its quality of set is great. I tried it on another project of mine it does work great, so I'll give it four stars. Just wish I could get the alternator bolt. I greatly appreciate if Irwin could give me ideas! somes

Do not buy!

By

Comments about Irwin Bolt Out with Case:

I bought this today to get a bolt that was a little rounded. Used this tool and now the bolt is completely rounded and this junk set is at fault. The socket did not hold up and is now stripped also. Wish I could give a lower rating then 1 star. DO NOT BUY!

Comments about Irwin Bolt Out with Case:

The bolt extractors do exactly what they are suppose to. I had a perfectly round oil drain plug and was still able to get it off with the extractor. You may have to force the extractor on the bolt a bit, but once it is properly placed on the bolt it will come out in no time! I will most likely buy the expansion set in order to have all sizes.

I bought this yesterday after trying to get a bolt off the brakes of my motorcycle. To my amazement it worked with no issues and saved me from doing something more drastic.

    Great Product

    By

Comments about Irwin Bolt Out with Case:

Absolutely a great product. Should call these Lifesavers if the name wasn't already taken. Took a rounded bolt off a crankshaft pulley on the first try. Going to go get the expansion set just in case I ever need it. No more busted knuckles. Thanks Irwin

    Great

Had a rounded drain plug. Tried many different tools, nothing else worked. Used boltgrip and it took longer to lift the car and get under it, than it was to remove the rounded bolt.

Comments about Irwin Bolt Out with Case:

This tool saved me a ton of time. I rounded the head of a 14mm bolt that holds the caliper on. It is not the easiest bolt to get to so drilling it out would have been difficult. Picked this set up at the store, sprayed the bolt with some PB Buster and a minute later the bolt was out. Money well spent and still cheaper than paying someone else to do my brakes.

I had stripped out a hex head cap screw. One of these socket wrenches gripped the outside of the socket perfectly. I was able to remove the bolt without further problems.

Yes, but you need to use a smaller size. I have seen them made for 1/4" and 3/16", but not in the packaged sets from Advanced or other sources easy to find.
