  • Q:

My 1999 Honda Civic EX does not start. It will turn and turn and turn. A colleague of mine said he did not hear the fuel pump kick on when i turned the key on (not start). Could the BWD/Intermotor multi-purpose Relay (Part no. R3136) help fix my problem if the fuel pump is not working. Also what is the difference between Part no. R3136 and Part no. R4803, both have the title of BWD/Intermotor Multi-purpose Relay, but one is 54 dollars and the other is 18 dollars.

I'd be happy to help you with that! I would not be able to tell you if Part Number R3136 would fix your issue because that is a relay for the Power Accesories circuit. I would assume it is not related to the fuel pump circuit, but I am not too familiar with Honda to tell you for sure. Part Number R4803 is the Fuel Pump relay for your vehicle so that would be more likely the issue over the other relay. You should still test the system to isolate the cause of the issue before guessing and just throwing parts on the car. I would recommend taking the vehicle to a repair facility and having them diagnose it if you are not sure what is causing the issue.

The headlight relay may be the possible cause of the problem. However, I would suggest taking your vehicle to a certified mechanic for a proper diagnosis before buying and having parts installed that may not (solve/be) the problem.

Unfortunately we are unable to diagnose what is wrong with your vehicle without being able to be there with your vehicle. There are multiple things that could be causing that and without being there we really can not give an accurate diagnosis.
