    • Q:

does this product also prevent the trans from going into gear? My accord has one key and it has been hard to even turn the key into the ignition. It doesnt want to go into gear or fire, like it has immobilization on the car so I would have to take it to a dealer to program correct?
Asked on 12/4/2011 by Big Mike from KC , MO

        A:

The transmission issue might be different. The ignition lock assembly in a vehicle secures the steering column and ignition system in order to prevent theft. Replacing the ignition key lock cylinder restores the function of the ignition key. Over time, the small internal components of the tumbler wear and stick. This can cause the cylinder to stick as well and prevent the key from turning. It is important to perform this repair at the first sign of a problem because many vehicles require the ignition key to be in the "On" position to remove the lock cylinder. If the key will not turn, removal of the cylinder is not possible without damaging the steering column.

      • CUSTOMER CARE

        A:

Well this all depends on the skill level of whoever is removing or replacing the part. Some may have a harder time than others who have experience. I would recommend purchasing a Haynes repair manual specifically for your vehicle. This should be able to assist you further into detail on how to repair or replace specific parts.
