This part was purchased locally as a walk in to repair/replace a faulty OEM ignition coil on a Honda accord V6 3.0L with 200k+ miles. It looks identical to the OEM Hitachi I pulled out. The part fit and performed just like the OEM part it replaced. I used boot and plug grease to minimize sticking when doing next tune up and replacing plugs. Don't give this a bad rating because it stuck to the plug because you didn't use plug and boot grease. That's an amateur hour mistake =)

After the coil failed (within a month of being installed) I tried to replace it, only to find that the rubber boot at the end came off when I removed the coil. With the boot now firmly attached to the spark plug (and not the coil), I was unable to remove the plug. I have spent several days with various tools trying to get the boot off so that I could replace the coil, with no success. So not only did the coil not fix the problem, it made it worse. One would think that at least, you could make an ignition coil that stayed together. Guess not.

          Comments about Intermotor Ignition Coil:

My 2002 Odyssey with almost 190,000 miles started to shudder on the interstate, lost some power and the engine icon on the dash was blinking at me. Got home quickly and I pulled a 1399 code. Was pretty sure it was an ignition coil.

Ordered this coil online for in store pickup. Process was a breeze.

Once I determined which coil was bad, replacement took less than 5 minutes.

Started my vehicle and the engine was purring once again.

Hi Karen, happy to help you! When replacing the ignition coil you will need masking tape, screwdriver, ignition coil, torque wrench. For help with your project, I recommend purchasing a Haynes or Chilton repair manual specifically for your vehicle. This should be able to assist you further into detail on how to repair or replace specific parts. The exact repair manual part number for your vehicle is 42014.

Great question, darrell! You will need to give me the year, make, model and engine size of your vehicle so I can properly look up the information. The installation depends upon the skill level of the person performing the operation. For help with your project, I recommend purchasing a Haynes repair manual specifically for your vehicle. The vehicle could be misfiring, loss in power is one of the most common ways to know your coils are failing.

The easyest way to find out is to unplug each coil one at a time, if the motor seems to bog down when you unplug on then it is working fine, if you unplug one and there is no change then you know that it is in need of replacing

I have a 1999 Acura TL will I need 6 Ignition coils for my spark plugs or do I only need one for the whole system?

                • A:

Your car requires 1 for each spark plug. You only need to replace coils when bad, one at a time.

I had 1 Original that blew up at 120k, & after spending 6 hours picking and chiseling it out, I am replacing the remaining 5.

Please note if you need more than 1 you must order them at your store, online will get you only 1 at a time. My local store manager did give me the online discount that was going on (2o% off)

I hope this info was helpful.
