Failed and destroyed ECM

By

from Mobile, AL

Comments about CARQUEST by Intermotor Ignition Coil:

I drive a 2001 Nissan Sentra with nearly 200k miles on it. Over the years, three of the original ignition coils have failed. I replaced the first two with the Hitachi OEM replacement coils. I used this product to replace the third and most recent failed coil. Within two months of installing it, the replacement itself failed catastrophically and damaged the ECM in the process. The ECM repair (after two-way shipping) was over $350. I'm not sure if this is a common problem with these coils, but since the failure can potentially have such expensive consequences, I would recommend skipping this product under the virtue of "better safe than sorry."

Got this at Advance for 1/3 the price the mechanic wanted to charge me. The labor was simple: unscrew one screw and unsnap one cable. It was a cinch. Also, by shopping on line I was able to use on line discounts and save even more money.
