Replace this first

Comments about CARQUEST by Intermotor Blower Motor Resistor:

Dealer wanted to replace blower and resistor at a cost or $437.00. I checked the output voltage at the fan plug and got between 10.6 and 11.8 volts at the verious speeds. The fan motor would jerk with a slight hum when pluged into car and turned on, but no rotation. Even when spun by hand. After testing motor with a battery charger and it ran, I decided to replace the resistor only. Because this "resistor'' is an eletronic devise and not a resistor, like the old styles, it can not be read for an open, nor does it show any signs or an open or damage. But it fixed the problem without replacing the $100 fan.

Before installing, Make sure you have checked the blower motor for shorts, the blower may work but could be drawer too much amperage or shorting which could blow the new resistor.

My Ac blower wasn't turning on, and was told it was probably the resistor, not the blower. So I gave it a try and fixed it super easy.

2 Screews and a 1 wire harness connector to install. A/C running and blowing cold again! This is ussually the problem over a blower motor in a Honda.

                      A:

A blower motor resistor is an instrument which regulates the temperatures of heating and cooling conditions in a vehicle.

                    • A:

No, the blower motor resistor is what regulates the different fan speeds for your climate control unit (heater & a/c). Basically a fancy & expensive potentiometer.
