In the day of being able to cross matching auto parts I can not belive i was givin this power steering cooler. It was not even close to my cooler that I was changeing out. I called ahead and made sure it was correct part and in stock. I also paid online because my wife was picking it up because my truck a Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 had a power steering leak in the cooler (a smaller version of a radiator). I was worried because of the low price but was told by the parts sales person it was the right and he new of people that used this part and it was correct. Well it was 25% of the size and looked like it was for a Harley O wait is was to small for that also. Im 50 years old and Im a crane mechanic , and think a high school kid could see bit was not the OEM cooler and the price was low because it was not correct for a replacement. This happednt on a sunday and i them was stuck waiting for a on line correct part. I was assured it was for my truck!

Comments about Imperial Power Steering Oil Cooler:

Wanted extra cooling protection on my 4x4 Ram. Made a custom mount to fit where I wanted it. Only 3 stars ,cause it was missing 2 of the mounting zip ties. I didn't need them though.

As close to factory in size and dimensions without mounting brackets. Cut out and remove old coil. Drill and fit coupling side bracket to position coil as close to original hoses. Secure hose clamps and attach to frame bracket. Zip tie to opposite bracket.

Comments about Imperial Power Steering Oil Cooler:

The stock power steering cooler GM mounted in the drivers fraim rail rusted and leaked. I used this with two, one foot lengths of tubing to mount the cooler in the bumper area of the truck to keep the steering system cool.

Had to remove factory cooling line on power steering gear box. Being 26 years old the fitting twisted off. It had a very complex bend I could not reproduce. So I used this cooler instead. Easy install although to mount in front of the radiator I had to make a bracket. Came with everything I needed except of course the bracket I made.

Purchased this as a replacement for my 2004 Ford F150. I don't know why they list this as a replacement part. It stinks for 2 reasons:

                        1. It is about %40 smaller than the correct cooling unit.
                        2. It does not fit the mounting brack for a Ford 150.

If you are looking for a replacement power steering cooling unit, you will probably have to get the part from the dealer (unfortunately). Don't waste your time and money on this part.

Upon reading the reviews, I was reluctant to purchase this. Took my leaking cooler to the store for comparison.....no way this is a "bolt-in" match as advertised. In fact, only the tube size matched my application. I bought it knowing I'd need to create a new mount. But since it was so lower priced, I bought it. Took minimal time to make a bracket. Now time will tell if I made an intelligent purchase

I'm happy to help, Orangefan! This Imperial Power Steering Oil Cooler (Part No. 241009) is pressure tested to 150 PSI. It should not have any compatibility issues with motor oil a power steering cooler will typically be cooling automatic transmission fluid. You may find that a cooler specifically designed for engine oil will be more effective at reducing your oil temperatures. Such as Imperial Part No. 241040 for non-Chevrolet V8 applications or 241046 for Chevrolet V8 applications.

With reference to your inquiry on the Imperial Power Steering Oil Cooler - Part No. 241009 I assume there is too much of back pressure in the hose that leads to the reservoir and other lines. I would suggest taking your vehicle to a certified mechanic for a proper diagnosis before buying and having parts installed that may not (solve/be) the problem. Power steering coolers are not always necessary, if you are running stock tires and not doing lots of hard driving than you should be fine but if you start stressing the system i.e. hydro boost, big tires, 4 wheeling, rock crawling, mudding or racing then you want to run a cooler. This Imperial Power Steering Oil Cooler (Part No. 241009) will fit vehicles with 3/8" I.D. power steering return hose. So you can use this part in your F-250 Turbo Diesel vehicle.

First you will need to mount the cooler. Then run your return line from the rack and pinion assembly to the cooler. Then have another tube running from the other end of the cooler back to the pump/reservior. Be sure that when you mount the cooler, you mount it in a place that will allow air to pass through it.

First buy a igloo cooler & some ice - then purchase the beer. Install cooler & beer in bed of the truck with bunggie cord.
