Comments about Imperial Fan Clutch - Electronic:

Rented the fan clutch tool kit as well, but the wrench to hold the water pump assembly did not line up (bolts have to be perfectly in line for it to fit). Used a box end instead and turned pump until it was wedged against another pulley, then I could use fan clutch tool to loosen fan clutch. Really tough, tight spaces, but completed the project. Inspected all original components to ensure no obvious issues. Fan clutch was still throwing code P1481, but I did not have a chance to address it as the fan came apart while driving, tearing out wire harness, puncturing radiator and breaking shroud. UGH! Took it to mechanic at that point to make the vehicle safe. This had nothing to do with AdvanceAuto, they rock. Has to do with bad GM design and known issues with fan clutch. Envoy is fine now, but I won't buy a GM vehicle again.

Not the eaisiest part to install but take your time and wear gloves. I fabricated my own tool to hold the water pump while I broke loose the clutch nut.I am happy with the results.

The part was comparable to oringinal equipment that you could buy at the dealer for alot less, and No modifications were need, It was a direct fit. I'm totally satisfied and have yet to have any negative results. At first I was skeptical but soon found out that it was a quality part. I was even able to use the specialty tools without any cost, just a security deposit was all that was needed. I will surely purchase my parts from Advance Auto Parts again. They also have great customer service and are very knowlegable

Comments about Imperial Fan Clutch - Electronic:

was having problem with engine temp. rising at slow speed/stop and go driving. All indication of defective fan clutch. Replaced fan clutch/water pump/thermostat/coolant/belt/idler,and still have issue with temp climbing at slow speed/stop and go driving. As far as installation, and quality of fan clutch the new one was great, and installation was not too bad all things considered, however, changing all that I did made it more complicated. Working on 2002 GMC Envoy, 6 cyl.

Great replacement part, no modifications to install. Installation is a pain in the but , but that is Chevrolets fault, they seem to make everything harder for the average mechanic.

The part was ready and waiting when I got there; the tools needed to do the job were like new and they were a FREE LOANER set (deposit required). the part was much eaiser to put in then it was taking the old one out . The clutch assembly worked like a charm the check engine light went off after driving 5 miles my mileage is back where it should be and with the correct engine temperature the air conditioning works like new
