Just try if the scanner will communicate with another module like the abs, air bag or instrument cluster. The same data link connector is used for all the modules. If they could communicate with another module, then the bus is operational. With a a digital multimeter, check the pink wire for voltage by grounding your meter black lead and probing the pink wire terminal with the red lead. Then check the white/black wire and the violet/brown wire for voltage. check fuse #12(small 10 amp) in the fuse box in the drivers side dash. Check the voltage on both sides of the fuse, there is test ports on the end of the fuse and you can touch your probe to the metal tab in the test port. If you only have power on one side the fuse is blown. Replace the fuse and check the pink wire for voltage again. Then turn the key on and check the other two. Now you should have power to the connector as well as interior cab lighting which must be tied to the same circuit. For any further assistance, please visit your nearest Advance Auto store or call us directly at 1-877-ADVANCE (238-2623) and one of our representatives there would be more than happy to assist you.

It will not work on your 2006 Mitsubishi as it is a newer car and not a later model vehicle.
