Comments about Griot's Garage Vinyl & Rubber Dressing (8 oz.):

It's always a good idea to treat rubber seals around windows but it is especially important on cars that do not have frames around the windows. This stuff seems to do the job of keeping them lubricated without that greasy feeling

Comments about Griot's Garage Vinyl & Rubber Dressing (8 oz.):

I was a steady user of Lexol Vinylex until I tried this product. It's easer to apply, imho makes the vinyl look better, and smells great. Wherever the Sunshine is really intense, this will help prevent UV damage.

Comments about Griot's Garage Vinyl & Rubber Dressing (8 oz.):

Love the Finish to this stuff. It goes on way better than the other Rubber and vinyl finishes I have used. It doesn't have the fake glossy finishes with the other and no smearing greasy feeling to the finish either. Seems to last longer too. It doesn't sit on top like the others and I feel it actually is absorbed into whatever your putting it on for a good finish. It even heals the scratches or abrasions you may have in your dash or Door panels. If you want a more glossy finish sometimes I will put on 2 or 3 coats to come to the desirable finish and texture. I use it on all the rubber & plastic parts in my engine compartment too.

              A:

Yes, Tom, this Griot's Garage Vinyl & Rubber Dressing (8 oz.) (Part No. 11173SP) will work fine for your project. This product is superior when judged against all other rubber and vinyl protectants. Professional results on interiors, exterior trim, tires and the plastic and rubber parts in your engine bay. You'll enjoy how quickly it dries on your tires leaving behind a smooth satin finish. A perfect finishing touch on your dash and door panels without that goopy gloss left behind by those other dressings. It contains no harmful additives, petroleum distillates, waxes or other dangerous solvents that can dull the surface of vinyl and rubber over time. Special UV blocking agents leave behind a protective coating to help keep your vinyl and rubber parts from cracking, fading and hardening. Cleans and protects in one step leaving behind a non-greasy, satin finish; the way rubber and vinyl are supposed to look.

          • Q:

11173SP - I'd like to know what chemicals are used in this product. Is it silicone based? What is the UV protecting agent? I want to make sure it is compatible with the polyurethanes used in my car. Thanks!

              A:

I'm happy to help, Paul! Griot's Garage Vinyl & Rubber Dressing (Part No. 11173SP) is a water based product. It does contain a trace amount of high quality silicone. From Griot's, "It contains no harmful additives, waxes or other dangerous solvents that can dull the surface of vinyl and rubber over time. Special UV blocking agents leave behind a protective coating to help keep your vinyl and rubber parts from cracking, fading and hardening. Cleans and protects in one step leaving behind a non-greasy, satin finish; the way rubber and vinyl are supposed to look!"

This product works best when applied with Griot's Garage Blue Detail Sponges (Part No. 11205). If you are ever in doubt of the product's compatibility with the material it is to be applied to, test the product in an inconspicuous spot first.
