This is the best magnetic tool, I finally got one. It sure does hold the spark plugs in place when you are removing the old ones from your vehicle, the results speak for themselves, I put my trust in this tool. I sure needed it for my 97 Ford F-150 4.6 Liter engine for the farther back 2 plugs on cylinders 4 & 8 cause it can be difficult at time, it out beats a standard 5/8 wrench diameter, cause they will let the plugs stay in when you go to try and pull it out. I would buy this again and again. I recommend it to anyone. And when you go to put a new plug in the magnetic, it strongly holds it in place as you begin to put it in the cylinder hear and tighter it up, just remember to not strip the thread when tightening the plugs. Go for one, you won't regret it after all. It does it's job as it says it should do.

I bought this tool specifically for the #3 spark plug in a 2001 Blazer. It doesn't fit. It may work well for the other troublesome plugs, like the #4 plug on the same vehicle, but not the tough one, even with the rubber steering column "collar" pulled out of the way.

          • Q:

            Hi,
I have a 2000 Toyota Camry Solara SE, 2.2. (5SFE). I was going to swap out my spark plugs
with Denso PK20TR11 that requires a 5/8 drive. As my Solara has a front strut bar the usual socket
and 6in extension is too big and the ratchet won't fit underneath the strut bar.

Will this magnetic swivel socket get around this problem?

            Thanks!

              A:

Yes, KitK! This Gear Wrench Magnetic Swivel Spark Plug Socket - Part No. 80546 will remove the Denso Spark Plug PK20TR11 on your 2000 Toyota Camry. The knurled grip on the shaft of the tool provides you with a non-slip surface for low torque applications. The interior magnet inside of the socket retains and protects the spark plug for easier installation and doesn't wear out over time like a traditional rubber gasket. An extension, and a universal joint, all in one provide 360° swivel action.

Hi Leo, I'm glad to assist you! This Gear Wrench Magnetic Swivel Spark Plug Socket - Part No. 80546D/80546 is universal and is not application specific. You would have to match one by size to what is on the vehicle that can be fabricated into its place. Its fastner size is 5/8"-inch and drive tang size is 3/8"-inch. It meets or exceeds ASME B107.34.
