      Most fuel filters are located between the fuel tank and the fuel injector.

      2002 and other explorer - fuel filter is located on the passenger side above the frame. You can find it as you crawl in under the passenger door. after you remove the aluminum heat shield (2 13mm bolts towards the front and 1 to the rear which is hard to get too, behind the exhaust. once the heat shield is removed you will see a plastic plate piece with 2 10mm ? nuts - once removed you will see the fuel filter.....

      For the best help with your “Do it yourself” project, I recommend visiting your local Advance Auto Parts store and picking up the Haynes repair manual for your vehicle. These manuals you give step by step instructions on numerous services for the specific vehicle and the tools needed. While in the store, feel free to speak with an Advance Auto Parts representative there in the store for helpful hints and information as well.
