Comments about Fram In-Line Fuel Filter:

I have used these Fram fuel filters a number of times in the past with good results. This model is all metal construction and was a perfect replacement fit for the stock filter on my truck.

Installation was very easy for my application. Fuel filters seem to be overlooked by many drivers and for the price of the Fram, it is cheap insurance.

Depending on the car, you may also need special tools made just for removing fuel filters. Basic tools needed to replace the fuel filters are floor jack, new fuel filter, new fuel line washers, open end wrenches, screwdriver set and rags.

After filing my 1996 S10 with fuel, it wouldn't start after I got home. I bang on the fuel tank with a rubber mallet while a friend attempts to start the engine. This worked and it will run until it's shut off again. Then I have to apply the same procedure to restart the engine. Is this the pump or the fuel filter. I removed the filter and I can blow air through it very easily. The fuel pump requires a lot of labor since it's in the gas tank.

I would suggest taking your vehicle to a certified mechanic for a proper diagnosis before buying and having parts installed that may not (solve/be) the problem.

My truck quit running and I had to call a tow truck to get home. It seemed like it wasn't getting fuel. I replaced the fuel pump and that didn't solve the problem. Then I removed the fuel filter (Fram G3727) from my '98 GMC 1500 P/U and it rattles. The inside filter device has come loose from the body of the filter. Could that condition cause the engine not to run? If not do you have any other ideas as to what the problem may be. I believe that the engine is getting spark. I used starting fluid sprayed into the manifold and it tried to start. Any ideas would be appreciated.

It should be mounted on the driver side frame rail near the gas tank. You should just need a standard set of wrenches to change it out.

My '02 Avalanche (5.3 Vortec) is on the same frame as you truck. My filter was located inside the frame rail on the driver's side just behind the driver's door. It was mounted close to the underside of the floor, so it was hard to see unless you got under the truck with a flashlight. Very easy install once you locate the filter.

Hope this helps a little. Good luck!
