Used Fram for 15 years. My last 2 oil changes, the filter was crushed by the band wrench. I only put it on hand tight plus 1/2 turn, but when I tried to remove them, they crushed very easily and were a pain to get off. I'm switching over to Purolator pure 1.

Comments about Fram Extra Guard Oil Filter:

The odometer does not lie. Currently 400,100 on my 1998 Honda Accord. Is NOT an oil burner. Rarely needs additional oil at each 5,000 mile oil change. Like the grip zone on the FRAM Oil Filter, no need for a wrench.

Used Fram filters for 45 years and 1,500,000 miles. Never an oil related failure. Use good oil, good filters like Fram, and follow your vehicle manual requirements. It's not magic or luck, just common sense and investing a dime to save a dollar. One tip, always check to make sure the gasket is not missing while you are at the store.

This Fram Extra Guard Oil Filter with Part No. PH3614 is shorter than original due to the elimination of the separate bypass valve. It uses an anti-drainback valve that doubles as the bypass valve-to-backplate seal.

Can I use the Larger Fram Extra Guard PH-16 instead of the less effective Fram Extra Guard PH-3614 on my 2007 Grand Caravan 3.8L engine that was used on the same engine until the end of 2006? The gasket size is exactly the same I don't know why they switched.
