Comments about Fix-A-Thred Metric Coarse (UNC) Repair Kit/Packets:

Used to repair a stripped hole in aluminium BMW engine.
The kit contains everything you need to repair 12 holes, except for drill bit. The instructions are pretty straight forward. I had no issues drilling, tapping or inserting the repair thread. The tool provided to spin the tap is plastic, so it will not take alot of abuse. Since space was limited, I had to use a small crescent wrench, which worked just as well. Use common sense, clean out the tap and lubricate it while creating new threads. I used some blue locktite to secure the thread repair. There might be better products out there, but this one got me out of a bad situation with ease.

Comments about Fix-A-Thred Metric Coarse (UNC) Repair Kit/Packets:

        Nice Kit, quality is good.

Aluminum tranny case factory stripped pan thread repair went smoothly the first time.

Drill bit is needed to drill out hole for tapping to insert threaded coil but not supplied in this kit. It's size is specified in the printed instructions. For this kit it's 8.3mm, or 21/64

Supplied tap is only for non ferrous metals, or soft materials like plastic, not iron or steel.
if you have that material, purchase a hardened tap, The supplied tap worked fine in my aluminum case.

The threaded coil insert is stainless steel, so won't rust.

I looked up in stock store, ordered on line with promo code, picked up in store to expedite receipt & saved shipping charges, so was a good all round deal for me.

I used this kit to repair the rocker arm bolt threads in an aluminum head. The drill bit needed is not provided, but I had one already. The handle does NOT work in tight areas, but I had another handle already. The handle did work to install the coil. I liked the adjustable stop.

                A:

You should be able to use a heli-coil to repair a stripped out spark plug hole. I would do some research before attempting the repair to find hints for the job.

I would suggest taking your vehicle to a certified mechanic for a proper diagnosis before buying and having parts installed that may not (solve/be) the problem.
