If your like many and have a leaky 4.0 valve cover 9 times out of 10 you will break the CCV (crank case ventilation)valve and PCV valve if you happen to have both instead of just one. These break all the time but the finding of the parts is very difficult to find i have taken out the guess work and will leave you with the part numbers for both front and back as well as the rubber grommet o-ring!

Front is BLACK #47079 Rear is GREY #47057 it will be Help brand(Dorman)also along with those,I am sure you will need the Rubber Grommets that they sit in those are part number #42344.

These are Dorman part number and will cross reference and are Exact Fits and remember installing new orifices will definitely help with a little lube or oil of your choice.

Good Luck!

Comments about Felpro Valve Cover Gasket Set:

      1997 Jeep Cherokee 4.0L inline 6 engine.

This Felpro gasket solved my problem with oil leaking down the rear of the engine and dripping from the transmission bell housing. The gasket included 15 new rubber grommets for the valve cover mounting blots/studs.

I removed the thermostat housing to make removal and reinstallation of the valve cover a little easier. Serviced the cooling system at the same time (flushed, new thermostat, cleaned the recovery tank and replaced engine coolant).

After installing the new gasket, I cleaned the outside of the engine with some degreaser and was glad to see that the oil leak problem has been solved. Felpro is a quality brand that I trust.

Comments about Felpro Valve Cover Gasket Set:

You get what you pay for with parts, trust me spend the extra few bucks and get this Felpro gasket. RampageMike also posted the part numbers for the CCV fittings and grommets, they were all on the shelf at the local store, definatly get them as well, it's cheap insurance. In the newer inline 6 engines, there's a plastic wire cluster housing in the rear that needs to be removed and it's just a pain in the A, that's honestly the hardest part. Lay out each bolt/stud in a pattern or make note of which goes where, certain holes take studs, some take bolts. Remove the throttle cables, and air intake, I had to remove the AC pipe bracket in the front just to get enough toom to jiggle the valve cover loose, nothing major. I believe the bolts/studs were 11mm, a 10mm for the AC bracket, having an extension and a 1/4inch drive as well as a 3/8 inch drive ratchet works too. Nothing fancy here, just take your time, clean the surface of the engine well, the old gasket is similar to this one, just pops right off. I used a small shop vac to get any debris or pieces of the worn out exhaust heat shield out of the way. Don't go wrenching down the bolts hard, manual calls for 55 inch pounds, standard criss cross pattern just like tire lug nuts to ensure even torque.

                      A:

Happy to help with you with your question Videl! It is recommended to use a very small very thin bead of RTV when installing these types of gaskets. You can use Permatex Ultra Black Oil Resistance RTV. (Part No 22072)

Hi Jimmy, glad to assist you! When installing the valve cover gaskets, the rubber part goes to the head and the metal part to screw.
