Q:how do I replace the rear main seal on a Suzuki XL7 engine
A:Hi Ronnie! Firstly I would like to mention that replacing the rear main seal is not an easy task and might take 6-8 hrs or more depending on the skill level of the repairer. The easiest way of removal is using a rachet strap around the transmission and up through either the emergency break hole or shifter hole and around a 2" x 4" piece of wood to hold or suspend the transmission in place. Also remove propeller shaft from the rear differential and once the tranny is unbolted and suspended it will need to be pushed or swung back with another rachet strap. Pull back about 6" and you will have access to the rear main seal. Though it requires almost a day's time, be patient and you will be able to complete the project without issues.
