Comments about Felpro Oil Pan Gasket Set:

This product was of good quality and fit perfectly. The outside of the box says "follow the directions included or void any warrenty" but there were no directions. Luckily I had a Haynes manual or I would not have known that the install requires RVT sealant

Comments about Felpro Oil Pan Gasket Set:

Fantastic product, as long as installed correctly, as all Felpro gaskets that I have ever bought were! Perfect fit! Now, installation is crazy... First of all, disassembly is insane since it requires removal of several components such as both of the tranny-to-block mounts, tranny dust shield, starter, and 6 engine mount bolts (which by the way are extremely rusty and required additional leverage to loosen). There is also little room to work with so brace yourself and patience is definitely a virtue with this job. Here are the steps I took to replace rusted out pan:1)Ran the vehicle on idle until reached normal operating temp. This is to aid in removal of rusty bolts as the things expand when heat is applied. Shut off. Of course needed to be careful not to burn myself when working.2)Removed the aforementioned components and removed the oil pan bolts. Was fairly easy except engine mount bolts were tricky. I have used 2 2x4 to do this. First, used a longer about 18-20in length 2x4, by propping it vertically onto the floor jack and pinning it against a small protrusion on the DRIVER side of the block, behind the x-membrane. Lifted just a bit to relieve pressure off the driver side mount bolts. While still on the jack, removed the 3 bolts with some active persuasion. Then lifted some more, loosened & removed the mount and then vertically propped a shorter, abt 12-14in 2x4, between the block and the x-membrane. Lowered the jack and repeated procedure on the passenger side, except there is no way to prop up the engine on the crossmembrane there so after bolts removal just lowered back down unto the mount. The reason for removal of passenger side bolts is to allow the engine to be lifted without being tied down on one side. Then went back to driver side, lifted engine by the very front protrusion thru clearance BEFORE x-membrane (Had to turn 2x4 sideways to fit between x-membrane & tie rod). Kept lifting until, enough space was created for the pan to be turned and removed.3) Since the job is such a beast, decided to replace oil pump & screen while had the opportunity. Fairly easy. Read my review of the oil pump & screen for more info.4) Carefully cleaned off the old gasket residue from the block with a razor blade and wiped clean with acetone/paint thinner soaked rag.5) RTV silicone was USELESS!!! The gasket would not stay in place & kept falling. Gravity & gasket weight were against me...SO... reverted to a trick back from the old country (Ukraine) before the days of silicone. Used the THINNEST possible sewing string (used for clothes) and tied the gasket down to the new pan thru each bolt hole, keeping the string to the outside, the knot facing down & leaving long tails hanging. Of course made sure, all bolt holes were perfectly aligned w/gasket.6) Installed the pan back on, making sure the proper torque was applied to the bolts(200in.lb per Haynes manual)and tightened in a criss-cross pattern from the ends towards the center. Then just yanked on the long string tails effectively snapping them! Voila! Much easier & perfect alignment too!7) Reassembled everything back. Of course, the engine mount bolts took a while again playing with 2x4s and successive lifting and lowering to align the mount holes with those on the block.THATS IT! Like I said earlier CRAZY...BUT... MUCH CHEAPER than [*] any shop for this job and this CAN definitely be done in YOUR DRIVEWAY. TOOLS, BEER, COMPANY(if available) & LOTS OF PATIENCE! GOOD LUCK!

You Just MUST Lightly Contact Cement the Gasket to the Clean & Dry Bottom of the Engine Block, Just Enough to Hold it in Place, With a Slight Dab of Silicone in the Corners Where the Gasket Goes Into the Slots...
