Comments about Felpro Oil Pan Gasket Set:

1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee V8. Where do I start. First of all, this part was of great construction and fit perfectly. I have all the confidence that it will not leak again for as long as I own the vehicle. On the other hand, if you are a DIY'er and you think that you will install this yourself, you're wrong. Drop exhaust from both sides, remove transmission cross member, support transmission and make sure you are on jack stands with front suspension hanging for clearance. Disconnect linkage and THEN you can remove pan. I had to call a mechanic friend to get it all done. What a pain.

Comments about Felpro Oil Pan Gasket Set:

Before I put this one on, I had another brand from another auto parts store (AZ) and the FelPro gasket is much better made - a much better fit, higher quality construction, highly recommend.

Hi Durango owner, I'm glad to assist you. It is recommended to add some Permatex RTV sealant to the corner of the rear main cap and the cylinder block while installing this Felpro Oil Pan Gasket Set (Part No. OS 34408 R).

        • Q:

How much permatex do I need to use on a new oil pan gasket? There is a groove in the middle of the gasket on both sides.
Is that where the permatex goes? Do I put the permatex on both sides of the gasket all the way around the gasket even where the gasket is u shaped? Any help will be appreciated.....thanks!

            A:

Happy to help you with your question Coose! It is recommended to only add some Permatex RTV to the corner of the rear main cap and the cylinder block. Be sure the mounting surface is clean and free of oil before putting on the gasket. For additional information I suggest referring to your repair manual. If you can provide us with a vehicle year make and model we can try and locate one for you.
