what is the torque settings and tightening sequence for these headbolts (2001 ford taurus 3.0 liter v6 vulcan engine)
Asked on 4/1/2016 by B from MA

    1 answer

Hi B, happy to help you! Tighten the bolts in five stages. Stage 1: Tighten to 50 Nm (37 lb-ft). Stage 2: Loosen the bolts one full turn. Stage 3: Tighten to 30 Nm (22 lb-ft). Stage 4: Rotate each bolt 90 degrees. Stage 5: Rotate each bolt an additional 90 degrees. For help with your project, I recommend purchasing a Haynes or Chilton repair manual specifically for your vehicle. This should be able to assist you further into detail on how to repair or replace specific parts. Haynes Ford Taurus and Mercury Sable '96-'05 Repair Manual (Part No. 36075).
