Comments about Factory Air Reman GM Harrison DA6-HR6-HD6-HT6 Clutch Assembly w/ Coil:

This air conditioning clutch assembly comes with everything needed to save you the money of buying a new a/c compressor. The coil, pulley and outer clutch are all excellent replacements for your original parts that have failed on you. A lot of times the outter clutch disc is out-of-round and is difficult to space it against the pulley face. What I did with this clutch was to bottom out the outer clutch disc and then, with my puller tool gently backed out the disc so it just stopped touching the pulley face. This worked perfectly and the clutch engages so quietly.

      A follow-up question..
Can the clutch be removed from the Compressor on the car (with removing compressor) with this tool?
Asked on 8/20/2012 by Johnhilty from Hazelwood, MO

      • CUSTOMER CARE

        A:

Yes, the clutch can be removed from the Compressor on the car (ie; without removing compressor). Remove the A/C compressor's front and rear bolts only. Lift the front of the compressor up to clear the top radiator support. Maintain the compressor in that position by placing come object (ie; a block of wood) between the front of the compressor and the top of the engine, make sure you do not depressurize the system or remove any hoses. But, In all - take proper safety measures and precautions during the removal and installation process. If you feel that the process is a bit complicated, I would suggest taking your vehicle to a certified mechanic for further assistance.

    • Q:

Are there special tools required to remove and install this clutch on a 94 Buick Le Sabre?
Asked on 8/19/2012 by John from St Louis

        A:

This part Factory Air Air Conditioning Clutch - Remanufactured, Part No. 48665 is an Exact fit for your 1994 Buick LeSabre. INSTALLATION: With center screw forcing tip in place to thrust against the end of the shaft, thread the Clutch Plate and Hub Assembly installer-Remover J33013-B into the hub. Hold the body of the remover with a wrench and turn the center screw into the remover body to remove the clutch plate and hub assembly. CONNECTION: Shaft Key, Clutch Plate/Hub Installation: Install the shaft key into the hub key groove. Allow the key to project approximately 3.2mm (1/8") out of the keyway. The shaft key is curved slightly to provide an interferance fit in the hub key groove. Be sure the frictional surface of the clutch plate and the clutch rotor are clean before installing the clutch plate and hub assemblies. Align the shaft key with the shaft keyway and place the clutch plate and the hub assembly onto the compressor. INSTALLING CLUTCH PLATE & HUB ASSEMBLY: Remove the forcing tip on J33013-B clutch plate and hub assembly installer-remover center screw and reverse the body direction on the center screw. REMOVING PULLEY ROTOR AND BEARING ASSEMBLY: Install the clutch plate and hub installer-remover J33013-B with bearing. The body of the J33013-B installer-remover should be backed off sufficiently to allow the center screw to be threaded onto the end of the compressor shaft. Hold the center screw with a wrench. Tighten the hex portion of the installer-remover body to press the hub onto the shaft. Tighten the body several turns, remove the installer and check to see that the shaft key is still in place in the keyway before installing the clutch plate and hub assembly to its final position . The air gap between frictional surfaces of the clutch plate and clutch rotor should be 0.50 mm - 0.76 mm. If the center screw is threaded fully onto the end of the compressor shaft, or if the body of the installer is held and the center screw is rotated, the key will wedge and will break the clutch hub. Check for proper positioning of the shaft key (even or slightly above the clutch hub). Spin the pulley rotor by hand to see that the rotor is not rubbing the clutch drive plate.
