This replacement blower motor is a very good value. For [$], it cannot be beat. I priced a used one, that I would have had to remove myself, and it would have cost about $20.00. (plus it has been used for who knows how long)There is only a slight difference in the height of the original squirrel cage (taller) and this replacement.

Comments about Factory Air Blower Motor:

Good product. Exactly what I expected. Blows slightly harder than the stock part. I saw some reviews about the fan being noisier which I didn't experience. the quality seems good. It feels well built, the seal is good, and new washers are included. KEEP your screws from the original part! I looked at fans at most of the other part stores and for the price this appears to be the best bang for your buck.

Comments about Factory Air Blower Motor:

This replacement is in several ways, superior to OEM. First, it is housed in a smaller casing, so it slides in easier. More importantly, the smaller casing makes it easier to replace the blower motor resister, which is inexplicably placed behind the blower. When the resister fails, which it inevitably will (soon and often), it may be possible to replace it without removing the blower. Even if it can't, the blower comes out easier than OEM, so still a step up. Also, the blower motor has what appears to be vent holes on either side, which will allow for air cooling the stator preventing internal heat build up. It is a little bit noisier than the original (before the original started to seize up!), but not terrible.

Comments about Factory Air Blower Motor:

I bought this to replace the origional blower motor which had quit working. I chose to buy it @ Advance because with online discount code made it $8 less than the advertised price which in turn was Cheaper Than a Used blower motot and this one came with a Lifetime Warranty.

Because of Advance Email Discount Codes I buy 90% of my parts from them. Works better than OEM, blows more air and very quiet. Installed in a 2004 Olds Alero I've owned since new.

When I hold the wires that connect to the motor (not the resistor) at a certain angle, the fan operates perfectly. When I release it, the fan fails. Is it likely that it is the connection on the motor or the wires? Neither the "male" or "female" connections feel loose.

The possible cause of the problem should be with the connection on the motor. Either the "male" or "female" connections may be loose.

                          A:

Yes, To test a Blower Motor: Listen for the sound of the motor. If you don't hear sound, it could be a bad resistor, a blown fuse or a loose wire. Replace any blown fuses. Turn on the motor and watch the new fuse. If it immediately blows, you have an electrical short. If it lasts a while but then blows, you probably should replace the brushes on the motor. Pull out the motor if the fuses are functioning. Check for loose wires. If these aren't loose, hook jumper wires to the motor. Attach one wire to a ground and another to a power source. Replace the motor if it doesn't start. Turn on your heat if the motor and fuses work. Listen and feel at the vents for air. Switch on your air conditioning. If you don't get air, your motor might have clogged or the air controls may be defective. Use a scan tool to check the air controls.
Please check the additional information regarding testing of blower motor ( ohmmeter testing ) that has been sent to your mail address.
For compatibility of this part with your vehicle, please provide your vehicle make, model and engine specification.

If you have a 2000 Malibu, it is located under the drivers side dash panel at foot level. Pop The panel off. The resister and blower motor are both under there.

The A/C Blower Motor's location varries from vehicle to vehicle depending on the model vehicle you have. The best way to find the location is by purchasing Haynes Repair Manual from you local Advance Auto Parts store. The Manual will give you the exact location of the blower motor, it will also direct you step by step with detailed instructions on how to replace any part on your vehicle.
