Comments about Energy Suspension Sway Bar Bushing Set:

The product literature says it will fit the front of my 1999 Avalon (first generation) but there was not enough room for it to fit in the available space and further, the zerk grease fitting would be inaccessible. A bad application callout by Energy Suspension. Otherwise, the product appears well made and robust.

        • Q:

What is the purpose of sway bar bushings, and can you still drive when you start to hear the noise when you hit bumps.
Asked on 6/11/2010 by Andre from New bern, NC

          1 answer

          • A:

Typically if you are hearing a clunking noise over bumps or sudden braking you should inspect the sway bar linkages for failure or depending on your car the Tension/Torsion Rods. The sway bar bushings simply hold the bar to the chassis and allow the bar to rotate to help compensate body roll during turns.
