This will turn your wheels Dark Black Green if you apply it to factory alloy wheels! Note if you watch the YouTube video they are using a CHROME rim. If you want this to work on alloy you must sand your rim, prime it, paint it chrome, THEn use this kit. I had to repaint my rims the next day. I used VHT flat black wheel paint.

        • Q:

I have a 2009 Cadillac STS-V with original silver painted wheels. I was thinking of sanding the wheels, then use a filler primer, then a chrome base coat, then Shadow Black out kit (with top coat as in this kit). Would it be better to use your etch primer or filler primer or straight primer and are these all sandable? 2)How much time should I allow between coats of primer and chrome then to shadow black out? 3) which of your products is best for cleaning brake dust and grease? >> I would like to achieve a black chrome appearance.
Asked on 7/6/2015 by Dave from Wichita, KS

          1 answer

          • CUSTOMER CARE

            A:

I'm glad to help you, Dave! Shadow should be used over Chrome or other non-sanded shiny metal surfaces. Applying Primer isn't recommended. If you apply Shadow over a not metal surface, but rather a painted surface, the appearance will be more dull/less brilliant. All of the Primers you mentioned can be sanded.

The SHADOW system is ideal for chrome wheels, bumpers, interior/exterior trim, accessories and under-hood components. I would not recommend using this on an actual engine because of the heat which may cause it to chip or fade etc.

I would not recommend it. Most motorcycle engines are air cooled and using a paint substance like this one can cause the engine to not cool like it should.

I have a craftsman blackened chrome tool set I bought off of a friend that was missing a few sockets. I took the missing ones out of my old craftsman tool set and put them in this set since it was larger but they are not blackened chrome and look out of place in the tool box. Would you recommend using this product on tools or would it not hold up to the hard use?

          • CUSTOMER CARE

            A:

No, I would not recommend using this on tools because it is not intended to be used on tools and would eventually scrape off. If the tools are not going to be used it may last longer.
