It truly works. Rust is reformed and when painted over denies new rust for an acceptable period of time. As the other reviewer stated, the spray pattern could be better. I have not had any clogging issues and have been able to empty each can (of many) completely. I wish I owned stock in Duplicolor just for this product. I use it often and really like it!

I have used rust conversion primers since the 1980's and until now every brand I used worked as it should. This time it was utter frustration.

1. It sprayed just awful. Very heavy and spitting. Impossible to apply a light coat.
2. It did not convert the rust scale all the way through.
3. It did not turn black uniformly on the bare metal. Rust conversion primers typically will cure to a nice satin black sheen.
4. It is not sandible. Could not feather the edges.
5. Absolutely terrible adhesion to the metal. After over-coating with primer for surface prep, I masked and applied top coat. When I removed the tape (the best 3M sells) the primer and rust conversion primer came off with the tape down to bare metal.
6. Reacts to primer and topcoat solvents creating a visible scalloped feather edge.

I had to sand the pieces back down to bare metal and start over. I had purchased two cans and both acted exactly as I described. Any other brand should be okay.

Comments about Duplicolor Rust Fix, Rust Converter, Black, 10.25 oz. Aerosol:

I read the directions and followed the instructions on the label. The end results are very impressive. It turned all rust to a black finish. I applied two coats two hours apart and let it dry for 24 hours. The next day all rust had turned black. I then applied primer on top of the former rust; 24 hours later I applied a finish coat. The finished product is free of rust.

Comments about Duplicolor Rust Fix, Rust Converter, Black, 10.25 oz. Aerosol:

I was skeptical after reading all the negative reviews. I used it on my f150's drive axle. Before applying this product, I used a wire wheel to knock off the heavy scale. Then I wiped the surface clean. I shook the can for 5 good minutes before I sprayed. I did not have any issues with the nozzle clogging. It went on smooth and dried fast. I top coated it and looks like a professional job. It worked just as it is described on the can. I'm happy with the results.

Comments about Duplicolor Rust Fix, Rust Converter, Black, 10.25 oz. Aerosol:

I first used this product about two years ago. Actually works as advertised. I have used many rust "converter" products in the past and none have been as easy, economical, or effective as this. I'm even talking about products like POR-15 and other very expensive, hard to use, and messy options.
I use this every year on the underside of my 17 year old vehicle to keep the rust at bay. I started noticing some significant, scaly rust a couple years ago and started using the product then. It has been very effective at stopping rust from getting any worse and works even better if you top coat it.
BTW, I live in the Ohio rust belt.

I have used Rust Fix on some sheet metal rust spots on my ML320, a rear trailing arm/brake splash guard on my 300TD and some underside components and floor pan of my Pathfinder. Because it's a spray, it's easy to use, especially when you don't want to remove parts from the vehicle to deal with the rust. Will it hold up over the long term? I hope so... Whenever possible I like to remove parts and soak them in Evaporust. Rust Fix is an alternative that saves time and is much better than ignoring the rust and having it spread.

This product works ok did not turn all the rust black. Kind of like clear coated it. However, I feel it maybe effective on preventing future rust. Makes a decent base coat.

Thes Spray goes on clear; much like WD-40 doesn't show runs. Soakes into rust and dries like a black primer. Recommend a top Coat of anit Rust-Paint. Yes, it does work well. I sprayed it on the drive shaft, leaf springs and frame rails and spring shackles/hangers, rear-end and axel housing. 2-cans did cab to rear bumper (on Frame)... on pick-up.
