Comments about Duplicolor Paint Shop, Primer, Gray, 32 oz. Quart:

This is functionally different from the lacquer I'm used to. It's not hard to learn. It applied in an orange peel manner and as it dried flattened out just as it should. Color can be applied too dry with typical results. Practice with the product helps to "learn" the product.

        Pros

        • Easy To Use
        • Good color uniformity
        • No compatability issues

        Cons

        • Not a High Filler

        • Do it Yourself

Comments about Duplicolor Paint Shop, Primer, Gray, 32 oz. Quart:

This product definitely has its pluses & minuses. It is not a "high fill" primer and cannot be used by its self. Its does not fill 400 Grit sand marks well. If you buy it and don't use it immediately or your supplier has had it on the shelf for awhile expect difficulty in mixing it. Much more so than any other I've used. Once sprayed, it is very easy to see defects. Better than others as it has great texture & color uniformity. Be sure to spray a test panel !

I'm not really sure as to how well it will hold up have not yet applied it, figured I would try a different product so I chose The Duplicolor rather than the usual 2 component type

            Compatible with RM Diamont base?
Asked on 4/6/2015 by NJS from Windermere, FL

            2 answers

            • CUSTOMER CARE

              A:

I'm happy to help, NJS! Dupli-Color Paint Shop Primer (Part No. BSP100) is a lacquer. This may make it more difficult to apply the RM Diamont base as it's likely a urethane. You may be able to use the urethane base paint with a lacquer primer if you sand the primer first or apply the base coat during the re-coat window of the lacquer. For the best results, I suggest using one paint system to paint the vehicle.

Hi Mike, good question! It can be brushed on, with a natural bristle brush. I think they will get a better result using a gun to apply it.

any paint on plastic requires a flex additive and the difference is the surfacer is more like a filler for small blemishes like scratches
