I recently ordered 2 National Hub Assemblies because the cheaper NTP brand that I had installed just over a year ago went bad. Not only was there a lot of slop in the bearings, but also my ABS system was engaging every time the vehicle just about came to a stop. This time I had my Brother In-Law who is a certified mechanic help me put the National hubs on. He started by removing everything needed to the point of installing the new hubs. He then told me that if I had followed the proper procedure for torquing the axle nut, I would not be replacing them now. He estimated that I probably over torqued the 2 nuts by about 60 or 70 pounds. When he asked if I used a torque wrench, I told him I did not because I thought there was a positive stop that would not allow the bearings to be compressed too much. He told me that I killed the hubs, and I was lucky that they lasted as long as they had. He also stated that even the cheaper hub assemblies have to conform to MVSS (motor vehicle safety standards). He said while it is possible to get a bad Hub from any manufacturer, the ones that customers complain have not lasted very long, and they installed them on their own, were not installed properly (most of the time not torqued by a calibrated wrench). So long NTP hubs, please forgive me for sending you much too soon to that bone yard in the sky.

How do you rate a wheel bearing/hub assembly a week after you bought it? The proof is whether it lasts or not. My last replacements lasted 25 months. Hope these last longer. Ordering and installing was easy, other than that I can't say at this point but I am reviewing this part to get Advance Auto off my back.

Comments about Driveworks Wheel Hub Assembly:

During our 3 hour drive home the driver side wheel bearing decided to krap out and was making an awful noise. Reduced our speed and made it home a few hours later. This was a pure breeze to install. Drove my truck around for about 50 miles on different road surfaces and everything was good. Truck was quiet once again.

I used this product to fix my wife's truck. It was making a terrible whirring sound and really pissing us off. I priced this item at all of my local parts suppliers and found that advance auto was running an online purchase special of twenty percent off if ordered and paid for online. I did so and was very pleased to get the product at my local advance auto store who had it in stock at more than twenty dollars cheaper than anywhere else! Just for the record.......SCREW KOI IN SPRINGFIELD!

Comments about Driveworks Wheel Hub Assembly:

I wasn't sure what to expect with a store brand part, but I was impressed with the build quality, and the warranty offered on it, so I took a chance. Installation was very straight forward and easy, and the wheel bearing is extremely smooth. I also liked that it had a new wheel speed sensor already attached to it like the OEM part. I've had it installed for about a week, and so far it's performing very well despite some bad weather. Took care of the growling noise I had in my old worm out wheel bearing, so I'm glad for that. Use promo code TRT30 to receive 30% off this part. Makes it super affordable then.

I purchased this product 13 months ago. I had it installed by an ASE certified mechanic. It now has 12K miles on it and needs replacement. The bearings are singing. This product is absolute garbage. A wheel bearing asm should last longer than 12K miles and Advance will not do anything about it given it has a one-year warranty. Save your money and do not buy this product. The quality is so poor it should not even be on the market.

Sprayed the left axle nut with PB Blaster the night before. Used a 3 foot pipe on my breaker bar applying steady pressure (it's not reverse thread)and the axle nut came off.I left the tire on and did not jack it up until after the axle nut was loose. Everything else came out easy. The old hub fell right out.The new one install nicely.Seemed to be well built. Time will tell.

Hi Bill, this part does not come with installation instructions. For help with your project, I recommend purchasing a Haynes or Chilton repair manual specifically for your vehicle. This should be able to assist you further into detail on how to repair or replace specific parts.
